Cedar International & ESHS crowned Inter-Secondary School Volleyball Champions

- Both teams played unbeaten throughout the tournament

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The Cedar International School Spikers and the Elmore Stoutt High School (ESHS) Rams emerged victorious in the female and male Inter-Secondary School Volleyball Championship on Tuesday, November 26, 2024.

In the Girls Division, Cedar Spikers outlasted Ciboney Sharks 24-26, 25-16 and 15-8 to win the title for the second year in a row, remaining undefeated since last year.

Kayla Jacinto was named Most Valuable Player of the finals.

Meanwhile, in the Boy’s Division the Elmore Stoutt Rams defeated the Cedar Spikers 25-23, 25-20 to cap off an unbeaten season and defend the title they won last year. Jason Dunkley-Maduro was named MVP of the finals.

Rams Girls & Ciboney Sharks Boys win 3rd place playoffs

In the Girl’s Division third place play-offs Elmore Stoutt High School Rams defeated Bregado Flax Educational Centre Arabians 21-18, 21-13.

Tyasia Cameron was named MVP of the game.

In the Boy’s Division, Ciboney Sharks defeated St. George’s Secondary School 21-9, 21-14. Kristian Young was named MVP of the game.

Participating teams

Seven teams competed in the girl’s divisions, with the remaining girls’ team being the BVI Seventh-day Adventist School, the St Georges Secondary School and the Virgin Islands School of Technical Studies. In the regular season, Cedar finished on top of the standings with Ciboney second and Elmore Stoutt third.

Six teams participated in the boy’s division with the remaining teams being the Virgin Islands School of Technical Studies and the BVI Seventh-Day Adventist School. Elmore Stoutt topped the regular season group with Cedar finishing second and Ciboney finishing third.

Seven teams participated in this year’s tournament, with the other three schools being Robinson O’Neal Memorial Primary School, Bregado Flax Educational Centre- Primary Division and Ciboney Centre for Excellence.

The Inter-Secondary School Volleyball Championship was spearheaded by the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports (DYAS) in partnership with the Virgin Islands Volleyball Association.

    Its long past time that money needs to be implemented in the Bvi sports so that the competition and support can grow stronger.
