Cease or face 'disciplinary action'- BVITB tells 'Cindy' to stop embarrassing VI
Outside of social media, 'Cindy' in the past had famously told an East End/Long Look Community meeting on Thursday, May 30, 2019, that Premier Fahie was running a 'Jim Jones' level of dictatorship while hurling expletives at the opposition-led event over amendments to legislation as part of the territory's immigration reform plans.
Outspoken
“I’m frustrated and if I have to walk inside of the House of Assembly on Monday [July 3, 2019] and shut that s*!t down I’m going to do that!” she said.
Rosan-Jones, who described herself as a Christian, also urged the Premier to stop using God's name in his plans while dividing the country, “I hate, it really irritates me that everything that the Premier wants to push through, he calls God’s name.”
“God doesn’t work like that… we’re in a Jim Jones era and me personally, I am not going to be led to the table of poison,” she said.
The following month on the Tuesday, June 4, 2019, edition of ‘Hard Talk’ on Tola Radio VI, moderated by Julio S. Henry, Rosan-Jones lashed out at the VIP administration, accusing them of having no proper plan for immigration reform and amongst other things stated that the Virgin Islands (VI) was a lawless society.
“I hate to say it, but I always call the BVI a lawless place, I’ve never seen a place where everybody wants to do what they want when they want, how they want. It doesn’t work that way,” she told host Mr Henry and the listening audience during a discussion of the government’s immigration reform plans.
Rosan-Jones is a staff of the statutory body responsible for promoting the territory on the tourism front and the letter points to 'Cindy's' counter use of social media to bring 'embarrassment' to the territory.
Letter sent
In the October 8, 2019 warning letter addressed to Rosan-Jones and signed by Tourist Board Director, Ms Sharon P. Flax-Brutus and new Chair of the Board Kenisha A. Sprauve, the document opens "As you are aware, the BVITB and the Film Commission is tasked with, among other things, the favorable promotion of the BVI."
Without naming a specific post, the letter made reference to social media comments made towards the Premier and the government, "including the Tourism portfolio, and also persons responsible for and operating within that portfolio," it said.
The letter, seen by Virgin Islands News Online (VINO), continued, “From where we sit, the BVITB has determined that your posts as an employee of the board has embarrassed the Board and are not in line with the Board’s aim to favorably promote the BVI."
It also noted that Ms Jones was well-within constitutional rights to make posts and comments.
However, it noted that she has a responsibility to her employer to avoid steps that will prevent the favorable promotion of the Virgin Islands and other further actions that would embarrass the Board.
“You would appreciate that an employee of the Board publicly posting comments questioning the validity, competence, and credibility of the organisation’s leadership including the Premier, the Junior Minister of Tourism, the Deputy Chairman could affect the favourable promotion of the BVI.”
The letter went on to say, "The board has been receiving numerous unfavorable complaints in respect to several of your social media posts," it outlined.
Facebook Postings
In a September 26, 2019, post on the social network Facebook, Rosan-Jones, outlined some 'burning questions' for the Hon Fahie led government, "Tourism - Again, a Jr. Minister has been appointed here but I don’t see a change in trajectory. Lots of travel happening tho. Anywhooo, there’s a new Board (an unconventional one) so will wait to see their agenda."
Premier Fahie, since taking the helm of office has said that his government was an unconventional one, doing things in unconventional ways.
Two hours later on the same Facebook platform, Rosan-Jones posted, "I’m talking Tourist Board business?! The last I checked, the travel of the Jr Minister of Tourism doesn’t fall within the BVITB. And besides, I see the FB updates just like everybody else. Good!."
It is still unclear what exact post the letter was referencing, however, it noted “As you are no doubt aware, this organization is built on, among other things, good and proper public relations and appearance. We are asking that in future you consider this to assist in helping the Board protect its brand."
"We hereby warn you to cease any and all activities which could amount to embarrassment, unfavorable and negative promotion of the BVI and the board. Failure to adhere to this warning may lead to further disciplinary action against you,” the document detailed as its final ultimatum.
In a separate July 25, 2019, social media post, Rosan-Jones moved to lash out against not just the Premier, but the two legislators, Hons Neville A. Smith (AL) and Carvin Malone (AL), accusing them of amongst other things, corruption and breaching the constitution over contracts; however, this was proven in the House of Assembly (HoA) to not be the case.

Well sah, about time them bell this loud mouth cyat... them R***n is some real crazy set of people.
We cover up too much for these corrupt politiians, they must be held accountable. If the small man facing charges for bribery so they must also in fairness. What can you all be thinking about by condoning such behavior SHAMELESS.
Moreover, if there is perceived wrong occurring in the TB, first address it through the formal, internal chain of command and if that failed it can be channeled through the Complaints Commissioner. Of course, the complainant (Whistle Blower) should be protected. Tourism is 1/2 of the economic twin pillars and an important part of the BVI economy and all residents must do their part to build it up, not tear it down. Though Tourism does not generate as much government revenue as Financial Services (60%), it employs more people. The BVI needs to strengthen, deepen and extend its economy, not subtract from it. If the young lady feels that her services and views are not compatible with the TB’s mission and feels she is only going along to get along, she can part ways with the TB. The TB like other orgs needs organizational unity to succeed.
Christian my foot
Christians don’t think like her racial a$$
Chileeee... that parking space in the middle of Cindy wave, girl you need to let me hook you up with my hairdresser in CGB.
This story was told and designed to sway public opinion to be biased against her. My friend said to me that because a person is perceived to be something unpleasant, does that mean that they are not to speak or be worthy of being listened to and the truth of their speech ascertained? I begin to understand the full aspect of that statement. It is the mentality we apply to rape victims where it was there fault they were abused! Here you have someone telling you that for her right to free speech she is being persecuted and you rather further bully her into silence.
If this story would have been fully unbiased, then they should have published both the BVITB letter and Ms. Rosan's letter because both are in the public forum and that would have told the story, because both are very much in black and white..
this above is full of it....full!
Did Cr*$y Cindy release any statements to the media?
