ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - As part of a special sitting of the House of Assembly on January 25, 2024, late former Legislator Carvin Malone was recalled as one who generously shared his wisdom and experience, according to Minister for Communications and Works Hon Kye M. Rymer (R5).

Hon Rymer was at the time speaking at the Seventh Sitting of the First Session of the Fifth House of Assembly dedicated to honoring the work and contributions of the late legislator to the VI, where he said the then legislator never wanted to undermine the Unity Government.

“When the Unity Government was formed and you know, it was restructured and so forth. Many persons thought that Carvin was actually upset about the new formation of the government and sometime after, Carvin actually went over on the opposition side.”

“People thought he left the party... there was a big conversation about that. What Carvin actually related to me after, is that with what transpired during the events of the CoI and the arrest of the previous Premier, and decisions being made, a lot of it was made in isolation and Carvin figured that the people needed to know what took place, what happened,” he said.

He said Mr Malone’s goal was to never undermine the government, so he went on the other side of the house and started asking questions, “Quite a lot of persons at that time understood what his intent was by, going over on the other side. I must say that I stood in this honorable house on a few occasions and I nearly sang to him Come home.”

Mr Malone had a genuine spirit- Hon Rymer

Hon Rymer said Malone’s resolute nature and his genuine spirit was so inspiring, that it left an indelible mark and impact on many. “I was fortunate by the speaker to have learned so much. From him and he generously shared his wisdom and his experience,” he said.

“And you know he stood firm, and he stood resolute in terms of what he thought was the right thing to do, in terms of staying on the other side and the opposition side to get some answers out to the public,” Hon Rymer added.

When will all of you stand up for the rights of the people and get the Commissioner of police placed on immediate leave like all other public officers accused of alleged corruption. The man in Cayman the Governor hand picked to do the sham of an investigation on Mark Collins is a close friend of Collins. This is nepotism at it's best by the Governor. It is not transparent. A panel of persons from different ethnic backgrounds with the right qualifications should be doing this investigation. BVI PEOPLE WAKE UP! LEADERS WAKE UP!!! This is wrong wrong wrong. The Governor is wrong. You mean ayo only have energy to fight against each other and not against wrong no matter if it is the Governor present or past? Strupesss.

Having Hon Carvin Malone in goverment and not in a positin to leverage his understanding of the COI is like having Micheal Jordan on your basketball team and having him sit on the bench.

Having misspelled The former Health Minister’s name I feel that for the record he deserves to be correctly identified; to which I respectfully resubmit with proper considerations for the dearly departed.
