Carvin Malone crossed floor because Unity Gov’t was ‘afraid’ of Britain- Hon Walwyn

-Says late former legislator Carvin Malone made decision @ his own political expense to bring information to the fore

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI– Opposition Member in the Virgin Islands (VI) House of Assembly (HoA), Hon Myron V. Walywn (AL), in paying tribute to Mr Carvin Malone, said the late former legislator sacrificed his political career to keep the territory informed when he crossed the floor to join the Opposition after the Government of Unity formed following the release of the Commission of Inquiry (CoI) Report in 2022.

Speaking at the Seventh Sitting of the First Session of the Fifth House of Assembly on Thursday, January 25, 2024, Hon Walwyn said Mr Malone was no doubt a Virgin Islander who loved his country, and the Virgin Islands Party, in his view, was simply a vehicle for him to exercise that passion, love and that influence that he wanted to have over the country.

Mr Malone made a great political sacrifice - Hon Walwyn

“I noticed for instance… and it was said before, when Carvin took that decision to come on the Opposition side, I didn't question for one minute what it is he was trying to do because I understood who Carvin was,” Hon Walwyn said.

On June 15, 2022, Mr Malone, who was at the time a former Minister for Health and Social Development turned Government backbencher with the formation of the National Unity Government, announced he had crossed the floor to the Opposition.

“And to me, it is one of the greatest political sacrifices that I've seen anyone in this House of Assembly ever make, because at that time, Madam Speaker, with that CoI every member of the government, every last one, don't mind how bad them trying to play… Every last one of them was afraid of the British Government,” Mr Walwyn claimed.

He further said that while imbibing with one male government member at that time, he was told that the then government may have accepted the recommendations over fear.

“When that CoI Report dropped, I asked one of them... Well, how you all accept all of these recommendations without even checking through them? You know what they said to me?.... He said, Myron when that report dropped, all of us wanted to go to the bathroom one time.”

“And so what Carvin did was try to bring to the fore and to the understanding of the public, what was entailed in that report and how it would affect their lives and how it would affect the government's interaction with its people going forward, and he did that at his own political expense,” Mr Walwyn further added.

Malone died with VI on his mind – Hon Walwyn

The former Education Minister Walwyn said the move might have caused Mr Malone to lose support on the VIP side because people interpreted it as, perhaps, he was not pleased with the fact that he was not part of the newly formed coalition government.

“But that was not what it was, he wanted to make sure that he could give that information, and it helped a number of persons, including myself, because I was not in office at the time to understand really what was taking place and I think this country owes him a debt of gratitude for that selflessness that he displayed.”

Hon Walwyn said Mr Malone died with the VI on his mind, as he was concerned about the direction of his country, the colonial muscles being flexed, and how that would affect the VI’s ownership of its lands, economy, and right to free determination.

"...the extra powers he sought would only be for the governor to enforce CoI recommendations. Mr Rankin left the Territory not fulfilling his own CoI obligations."
These are the words of the Governor speaking to big grown people of the BVI as if they are as$E$. This is just like a man saying to a woman he will not have sex with her but allow him to only get his head in and nothing more. Governor stop taking the people of the BVI for fools.

The Governor and his UK bosses have mastered how to rule with fear. They also mastered how to keep the people divided and always make them feel as whatever goes wrong is their fault only. Until the BVI understands this then they will never understand what they are battling against.

When will all of you stand up for the rights of the people and get the Commissioner of police placed on immediate leave like all other public officers accused of alleged corruption. The man in Cayman the Governor hand picked to do the sham of an investigation on Mark Collins is a close friend of Collins. This is nepotism at it's best by the Governor. It is not transparent. A panel of persons from different ethnic backgrounds with the right qualifications should be doing this investigation. BVI PEOPLE WAKE UP! LEADERS WAKE UP!!! This is wrong wrong wrong. The Governor is wrong. You mean ayo only have energy to fight against each other and not against wrong no matter if it is the Governor? Strupesss.

The real issue with all that is haopening now with the Governor's actions is the UK should be preserving democracy and not promoting colonialism and dictatorship. This action of suspending a constitution in any form is saying to the public worldwide that the UK Officials have no respect for the BVI's democratic process and judiciary system. This ideology should not be condoned in a modern society as it stems from institutional racism.

The people of the BVI please take heed. Those who have ears and eyes let them see and hear. These colomial official people are like the mafia. They have evil spiritual people hired as consultants in many law enforcement areas and paying them out of tax payers money to guide them and show them who is against their agenda and how to eliminate them while making it look like their hands are clean. This is real but the people are fast a sleep by their design. Look at who all died or they moved out of the way or destroyed but make it look like their hands are clean with Sam, Carvin, Wade, Fahie, the white UK officer that died, Najan, Myron, just to name a few that they know are a threat to what they trying to achieve. Look out this week for them to do something drastically major to further abuse their powers and instill more fear in the people to warn them not to interfere with their wicked agenda. The BVI people need to pray and unite against this colonial dragon or they will be in bondage crying for years. This is for real just watch this week and beyond with the new Governor what their wicked plots will be at next. They see black people as inferior to them and it will never change.

The Foreign, Commonwealth, Development Office or Minister of Overseas Territories, etc, should initiate a Commission of Enquiry/Inquiry of Governor John Rankin, CMG, performance in office as well as his predecessor. He is retiring but still should be done right away. They need to search their accounts and that of their family before they served in the BVI and after they served. Start in Switzerland.

When will our leaders demand by law for all Governors and UK officials working in BVI including those in the Governor's office be mandated to register their interest in the BVI register of interest office according to law and stop them from exempting themselves. This does not reflect good governance.

Fahie matter needs to be discussed as it is not just a guilty or not guilty matter like they want us to believe because whether he is guilty or not the court in USA will decide. The BVI Street knows what really took place and why and who was behind it. What is alarming is allegedly the Governor & Commissioner of Police pretended to be working with Fahie and the Government while he and his government were trying to keep the BVI people alive during covid and Fahie did a good job. While doing this they did not like Fahie at all because of how he stood up against their evil and high handedness. It was known by most they would do anything to get rid of him so they worked with a foreign country to come in BVI to try to set him up and then they pretend like their hands are clean. I am not for nor against Fahie. What I am saying it shows these UK Commissioner & Governor & UK officials are no better than a murderer or a terrorist when they want to try to eliminate you. This is extremely alarming and it tells the UK cannot be trusted as they are capable of any unethical or unthinkable actions to eliminate anyone who resist their plot even if treason is committed but not admitted. The people of BVI should be concerned as this is not good in the 21st century. This is something to watch.

The UK officials are a boss at divide and conqueror. While they blocking the BVI from making medicinal Marijuana legal, they are in the UK making millions a year from it. These colonial people are always promoting ignorance and division and some of you swallow the Kool aid. Some of you speak as if the BVI has not done plenty good where the good far outweigh the bad. Certainly they have helped more people of the BVI over the last 40yrs to present than the UK has done per capita with their residents

Even if the BVI met all the deadlines for implementation of the bogus COI recommendations the Brits will still not be satisfied because they are known to always shift the goal posts.

Has it occured to our brilliant analysts that the deal was struck between sitting legislators at the time, and the UK, and that they could have been given the option to choose whether those who were allegedly in breach of good governance should be tried in a court of justice, or accept the Order in Council, and they picked the order? Now making it look like they had no say in the matter. Walwyn was not a member of the House then.
