ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – The West Indies Cricket 2013 Season kicks off this weekend with an action packed Caribbean T20 Tournament in St Lucia and Trinidad, and with renewed success on the International scene there is much to look forward to.

New leadership in the players association and a new board CEO, Michael Muirhead, has given hope of less fractious times off the field. Success at the World Twenty20 has provided energy to the effort on it. However, not enough time has passed to determine whether the WICB-WIPA "truce" will hold.

The outcome of the court matter over the Collective Bargaining Agreement and Memorandum of Understanding will possibly test the peace. And the ongoing standoff between the Guyana government and the WICB over who should run that country's cricket is another issue with potentially damaging long-term consequences.

The T20 Tournament offers the winners a place in the Champions Trophy later on in the year, which features the world’s best 20/20 sides, but it will be the last of its kind here as plans have already been announced for an IPL style Competition courtesy of a Barbados Investment Bank.

That will not lessen the impact of the Tournament, though with all the teams focused on achieving victory.

Floyd Reiffer, the Captain of the Combined Campuses team has said his side “won’t be “backing off” of anyone when they come face-to-face with the region’s best in the upcoming Caribbean T20 tournament.”  The CCC have blown hot and cold in the three previous tournaments and believe this year they could upset the apple cart and lift the cup.

Jamaica’s captain Tamar Lambert has identified defending champions Trinidad and Tobago as his country’s main threat in the Caribbean Twenty20 tournament starting in Port of Spain on Sunday. Pacers Kevon Cooper and Ravi Rampaul have both passed fitness tests and are back in training with defending champions Trinidad and Tobago, for the Caribbean T20 tournament, which begins this weekend.

Darren Sammy believes the Windward Islands team can lift the title of the West Indies Caribbean T20 tournament scheduled from January 6, 2013. The recall of veteran batsman Sylvester Joseph after a four-year break from regional competition is being viewed as one of the keys to Leeward Islands breaking their jinx in the Caribbean Twenty20.

Newly-appointed Guyana captain Veerasammy Permaul insisted that his team will be “at their very best” when they play in the Tournament.

Below is a breakdown of the Windies Schedule and the West Indies Cricket Board will be offering live video streaming of all regional matches which are not broadcast on television. Fans will be able to follow live video coverage via windiescricket.com.

The service begins with the West Indies Women v South Africa Women One Day Internationals in St Kitts and Dominica. (The two Twenty20 Internationals between the West Indies Women and South Africa Women to be played in St Lucia will be broadcast live on ESPN as part of the Caribbean Twenty20 programming). The live video streaming will continue with the Super50 and Regional 4 Day matches. The stream will be one ‘fixed-to-pitch camera’ and be without audio commentary.

Unparalleled and highly acclaimed live score update service via social media will continue, with live score updates via Twitter and facebook of all WICB hosted matches and international matches in which West Indies teams feature.
