PORT of SPAIN, Trinidad & Tobago- Caribbean Airlines today, August 12, 2024, announced the launch of its new route to Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport on Beef Island in the Virgin Islands, commencing on October 14, 2024.

According to a press release from the airline, this expansion is part of the airline's strategic plan to better connect the Caribbean region, enhancing its robust network.

Flights will operate four (4) times per week out of the airline's base in Trinidad, offering convenient connections to other destinations including but not limited to Antigua, Barbados and San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Garvin Medera, CEO of Caribbean Airlines, expressed his enthusiasm about the expansion, stating. "Regional connectivity is at the heart of Caribbean Airlines' mission. Our new service to Tortola is a significant step in our growth strategy, and we are committed to providing seamless travel experiences for our passengers. By the end of this year, Caribbean Airlines will link the Spanish, French, Dutch and English-speaking Caribbean with each other, as well as the North Amencan Diaspora, and business and leisure travelers who wish to explore our vibrant region."

Director of Tourism Clive L. McCoy commented: "We couldn't be more thrilled with Caribbean Airlines' decision to service our islands. Granting more persons the opportunity to visit the BVI is a win for tourism. We look forward to welcoming the guests with BVI Love."

Managing Director of BVI Airports Authority (BVIAA) Mr Kurt A.G. Menal told our News Centre the launch of Caribbean Airlines' service to the VI marks a “significant milestone” for the territory.

“This achievement is the result of a collaborative effort between the BVI Airports Authority, Caribbean Airlines, and other key stakeholders, all of whom worked tirelessly to bring this service to fruition.”

‘We look forward to a prosperous partnership with Caribbean Airlines’- Kurt A.G. Menal

Mr Menal added that the introduction of the VI route by Caribbean Airlines will greatly enhance connectivity, making the VI more accessible to travelers from across the Caribbean and beyond.

“This increased accessibility is expected to have a profound impact on our tourism industry, driving higher visitor numbers and stimulating the local economy. By facilitating easier and more efficient travel, this new service not only strengthens the BVI's position as a premier destination but also opens up new opportunities for business and cultural exchange across the region. We are excited about the positive changes this will bring and look forward to a prosperous partnership with Caribbean Airlines,” Mr Menal commented.

Efforts to get a comment from Minister for Communications and Works Hon Kye M. Rymer (R5) were unsuccessful up to time of publication.

Meanwhile, Caribbean Airlines said this network expansion underscores Caribbean Airlines' commitment to fostering regional integration and facilitating easier access to the Caribbean's diverse destinations.

“The new route to Tortola not only strengthens the airline's position as a key player in Caribbean aviation but also supports the region's economic development by promoting tourism and business travel. Caribbean Airlines invites passengers to experience the warmth of the Caribbean through its extensive route network and exceptional service,” the press release stated.

What we need are these flights connections. Antigua to St.Kitts to St. Marten, St. Thomas, Tortola, RETURNING..Tortola, St. Marten, St. Kitts, , Antigua, two times a week. All other and further connections are done in Antigua. .Nice if Liat, or who ever Airline can get permission to land in St. Thomas for 20 mins just for intransit and connecting passengers with the necessary U.S documents. And to pick up passengers from St. Thomas heading down the Islands.

This is very good news for the BVI. It is indeed an honor to have one of the most reliable and customer friendly airlines of this region servicing the BVI. It is up from here - and I mean that literally and figuratively. Kudos to all persons involved in making this a reality.

Fly into ANU from SK utilising this airline. Flight was great, the aircraft was very clean and oneway fare cost $161.70. The pilots were informative and advised us quite frequently of what to expect weatherwise. They also pointed out the islands. The flight attendant was very courteous and friendly. We required a wheelchair for a visually impaired person. The wheelchair wasn't readily available, therefore keeping us waiting for quite a significant time. The flight attendant kept us abreast of what was happening, made sure we were confortable and treated us kindly whilst we waited which seemed like eternity but turned out to be about 10 minutes. We'll definitely fly this airline again
  • We need Liat. (13/08/2024, 03:35) Like (3) Dislike (8) Reply
Pls. What we need are better,, more reliable and more economical connections to the OECS countries, add St. Marten and St. Thomas to that. Why we need Liat..That's where the business traffic is.....Its not enough business Traffic here for Trinidad...

This is useless for all the people coming here from Europe through Antigua. Their Caribbean airlines flight leaves in the morning and both BA and Virgin arrive there in the afternoon. Why have they missed this opportunity?
