CANE GARDEN BAY, Tortola, VI- Just weeks after the BVI Tourist Board (BVITB) decided to close the welcome desk at the Cyril E. King International Airport on St Thomas, USVI and the service desk at the Wilmoth Blyden Ferry Terminal also on St. Thomas (both will be closed by December 1, 2023), word comes of another outpost closure.

This time the BVITB will close the help desk located on Cane Garden Bay, on the main island of Tortola.

The desk was used to assist visitors/tourists who frequent Cane Garden Bay Beach, especially when there were cruise ships in the territory.

The help desk was located in the parking lot by Myett's, next to the bathroom. No reason was given for the decision to close the booth and both Chairperson of the Tourist Board Mrs Delma Maduro and Director of Tourism Mr Clive L. McCoy did not respond to our request for a comment.

It is also unclear how the closure will affect staff that used to work there to support the visitors' experience.

PLEASE: Publish Online, 2 months worth of the Ferry schedule, so that travelers can easily find a ferry for the day and time that they plan to travel on. It’s so frustrating and unprofessional they way it is now.

Instead of creating negative films of the VI commissioner...why not have a police officer stationed at the booth from time-to-times to create closer ties with the public?

They need to close down that Board of Directors and The waste of time sitting as Director. Joe could the Premier allow this nonsense? Tourism is the main economic driver in the BVI! Customer service is at the heart of Tourism but you close 2 of your key customer service centres? No leadership and no vision! The ship is sinking fast!
