BVIAA to host 2nd Development Meet tonight

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - The British Virgin Islands Athletics Association (BVIAA) will hold its first development meet of the year, today, Friday January 13, 2017 at the A.O. Shirley Grounds starting at 5:30 P.M.

The Track and Field season is fully underway, both locally and for many of the Virgin Islands athletes, who are away at Educational Institutions across America.

Adaejah Hodge, who was recently named as one of the Outstanding Athletes of the Amateur Athletic Union of America, 2016, runs the indoor 60m, Taylor Hill will be competing in the 200m, 60m and 4 x 400m, Lakeisha Warner returns to her pet event, the 800m, for the Clemson Tigers, the Gumbs girls will be throwing and Nelda Huggins is looking to improve her 7.63 indoor best in the 60m as well as running the 200.

Locally the 2nd Development Meet starts at 5:30 P.M. and a whole cadre of young stars will be on view.

17:30 – Javelin – Open

17:30 – Long Jump – under 11 to open

17:45 – 50m – under 9

17:55 – 60m – under 11 & under 13

18:00 – 80m – under 15 to open

18:10 – 600m – under 13 & under 15; open

18:25 – 80m hurdles – open

18:30 – 1000m – open

18:35 – discuss – under 15 to open

18:45 – 350m – under 18 to open

18:55 – 300m – under 15

19:05 – 250m – under 11 & under 13

19:15 – 120m – under 9

19:45 – sprint medley – under 18 to open

20:00 – sprint medley – under 13 & under 15

20:15 – sprint medley – under 9 & under 11

The next development meet will continue on Saturday January 28, 2017.
