ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The Ministry of Health and Social Development is hosting a Family Fun Day Walk tomorrow, Saturday, October 19, 2024.

The walk forms part of monthly activities by the BVI Moves Programme. The programme was launched in September 2024, during Caribbean Wellness Day.

The initiative was born out of the success of Caribbean Moves in other countries and the experience from the successful BVI Run/Walk Program from 2015. It is being implemented using a three-pronged approach by establishing partnerships with communities, schools and workplaces.

Walk begins @ 6 AM

Saturday’s walk will begin at 6:00 a.m. at the bandstand in Long Bush. Walkers will follow the path up to Manse Road, down to McNamara onto Waterfront Drive, across to Fish Lock Road and return to the bandstand.

Minister for Health and Social Development Hon. Vincent O. Wheatley encouraged members of the public to support and participate in the walk.

He said one of the most important things in life is balance, in a statement to Virgin Islands News Online (VINO) on Friday, October 18, 2024.

“Healthy bodies require a good balance between rest, diet and exercise. I encourage one and all to come out and join us as we walk for our health,” Hon. Wheatley stated.

The walk is to short, go walking to Cane Garden Bay and enjoy a fun day on the Beach. Arrange for a bus to return the walkers back at the bandstand at 3:00 pm.
