JOHNSON'S GHUT, Tortola, VI- The BVI Humane Society received a cash donation from Gumption’s Experience BVI on Sunday, February 2, 2025.

Mr Manog Bissoondutt aka 'Vijay', Shelter Manager of the BVI Humane Society received the $2,548.00 donation.

Speaking with Virgin Islands News Online (VINO) today, Tuesday, February 3, 2025, Mr Bissoondutt said Mr Allington O. Creque aka 'Gumption' has always been a “big supporter” of the humane society.

“It’s not the first time he has made a donation, he has done it before…Whenever we have a fundraising event or something, anything, he always contributes you know by giving us prizes on behalf of his business,” he said.

New facility being constructed

The society is currently in the construction phase of a new facility at Josiah's Bay and the funds from 'Gumption’ will go towards that.

“We’re happy as a company to support the ongoing project,” Mr Creque said in a social media post announcing the donation.

According to Mr Bissoondutt, the new facility will be about three times the size of its current shelter in Johnson's Ghut.

“The animals are going to be much happier,” he said, explaining that though the new shelter will be bigger, they will keep the numbers at capacity.

“It’s not because it’s bigger, I’m going to try to house more animals…but the animals will be much more healthier and happier,” he told VINO.

The construction is currently in its final stages where the septic tank is being constructed and landscaping is being done.

Once everything goes according to plan, the new shelter should be completed by May or June 2025.

“We are very optimistic,” he said.

All donations are welcomed- Mr Bissoonductt

Mr Bissoonductt added, “Sometimes people think that we only need cash money. No, a donation could be any[thing].”

He said once construction is completed they will need furniture and other key materials.

“A donation could be a fridge, a desk, a chair, you know, a gallon of Clorox,” he added.

When I saw her ad and the Gumption’s donation I said something looks off; now it makes sense. In other words Gumption basically saying that could have been GB sponsorship but he rather donate to animals instead. Karma.

Whether you like her or not call BS when you see it. Thsts why we cant progress because we are constantly in our feeling. He did this because she reported a factual story that he felt made him look bad . And most of the public agreed that she was right. You would make a better friend of his when you call him on his BS.

The only one that reported on a serious incident so maybe she is not so crazy. He is now on a tour to redeem his image after she mash him up with Facts. LOL

I said she mash him up with facts!!!!. Nobody wishing bad for him , it good that he got his business back up and running , but THE FACT is she reported something accurate which he denied - the bad part about it is he had no REASON to lie. It was a mishap move on. Btu to not have not report because...you say so... is BS. And people like you who are supposed to be his friend should be calling him on it. We all know what happens when a child is not correct well it happens with adults too.

I am sure they are grateful, but should we feel the need to publicize all our good actions, it really does seem a little disingenuous.

@? So should we only highlight the bad?? It bothers you that you can’t do a percentage of what Mr. Creque has done for the BVI like him or not. I’d say round here have too much negativity and there’s not enough positivity. If he chooses to give and publish that’s it’s his money and his choice. I’m sure Gumption not loosing sleep over anyone of us.

It's crucial that we avoid letting our egos overshadow our actions, as this behavior tends to be immature. Mr. Creque seems to be the most passionate about emphasizing his contributions to the British Virgin Islands, even more than the actual percentage he has provided. We should remember that all we have in this world is fleeting and borrowed. Although Jesus is the ultimate owner of everything, He doesn’t feel the need to broadcast every change He can make.

        Matthew 6
1"Be careful not to do your `acts of righteousness' before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. 2"So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. 3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

Every dollar helps. VJ, Kemo, Harry and others do God's work helping these poor, abandoned and often abused dogs. Thanks Gumption. Every dollar helps. Maybe we should redirect some of the confiscated drug money to the Humane Society. All good! JB

I love them as well, Kudos to VJ. and his staff for the tireless work and care that they do for God’s innocent creatures that have been mistreated, abandoned and abused. The saying goes, you can tell a person’s true character by the way they treat animals. Anyone that mistreats God’s innocent creatures, bad karma always comes back on you. I would also like to nominate VJ. For an iconic award for the outstanding job he is doing at the BVI Humane Society.
