ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Variety, durability, affordability and BVI branded products are some of the guarantees at Land and Bijoux Terner retail stores on Cyril B. Romney Tortola Pier Park.

The two sister retail stores were the latest to be featured on Retail Therapy & In Our Kitchen, a promotional programme by Totola Pier Park Limited (TPPL) in collaboration with JTV Channel 55.

Land

The Land franchise was brought to the Virgin Islands by “leather freak” Petra-Marie Herbert, who told JTV’s Cathy O. Richards and Marketing Executive of Tortola Pier Park Limited (TPPL) Stephon D. Mactavious that the business move was her retirement plan and thankfully “because of my mom, we were able to materialise what you see here.”

Land has been at Cyril B. Romney Tortola Pier Park since the Park was officially opened in February 2016, and has survived the hurricanes of September 2017 and the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Land store focuses on leather products, including bags, shoes, belts, wallets, passport holders, backpacks, and keychains. According to Herbert, the store had a clothing line, but that section closed since the COVID-19 pandemic, “so we are sticking to our nice leather.”

Herbert said she went with the Land leather franchise because she is a “leather freak”. She related that as a young girl in high school she bought herself a Louis Vuitton, “and I still have it.” That was some 33 years ago. She said Louis Vuitton and Land were the brands that proved to be more durable as they stood the test of time.

“Land was always in perfect condition, no leather picking off of it, no damages, and that is when I realised that is what I wanted. I use my brand, I advertise with the things that I wear, my bags, my shoes, my wallets, all my things inside my bag are Land, and I can tell you it is a very good leather that’s going to last you a lifetime.”

Herbert related that a lot of men don’t realise there are a lot of nice products for them at Land, as she showed Mactavious a rack of fine-looking leather shoes.

Items for children can also be found at Land.

Two incredible features of Land are that there is always a 50% off promotion and a layaway plan is available. “We always have a 50% rack,” Herbert assured.

Bijoux Terner

Bijoux Terner, a franchise seen at most airports, is also found at Cyril B. Romney Tortola Pier Park, thanks to Herbert. She said at one time everything in the store was 10 dollars or less; however, the price has since raised due to the pandemic. “Bijoux Terner is still in existence,” Herbert said as she noted that it is now next door to Land.

Bijoux Terner brands available at the Pier Park include clutch bags, hats, swimsuits, swim trousers, and beach slippers. Herbert noted that the store has “BVI branded” items, such as hats and swimsuits. She said swimsuits run from size Small to 4X.

“If you know Bijoux Terner, it was known for the scarves, so we have every type of scarf that you can think of.

“A lot of people don’t know we sell all these things. We have ties for men, we have scarves, we have suspenders, we have cufflinks, everything for travel we have it here, everything for the beach, we have it here, and at a very reasonable price.

“There is nothing in Bijoux Terner that is over $50. There is nothing in Bijoux Terner that is over $50,” Herbert repeated.

Persons can call 346-3121 or 494-3121 for more information about what the stores offer and opening hours. “I always tell people, once you see a cruise ship in, we are open...once it’s a slow season, we open Thursday, Friday, Saturday, 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM.”

Herbert encouraged the public to especially visit the two stores ahead of the One VI Poker Run and Father’s Day.
