BREWERS BAY, Tortola, VI- Police are said to be investigating the discovery of a burnt out vehicle at Brewers Bay Beach.

The vehicle, a Kia SUV, was burnt to a shell last night, March 19, 2025.

Persons in Brewers Bay said they saw a bright light on the beach around 9:30 PM but had no idea it was a vehicle on fire.

There have been no reports of injuries.

A burnt license plate next to the vehicle showed ‘RT 489’.

It is unclear if that vehicle was reported missing.

Police did not respond to our request for a comment but beachgoers told our News Centre that Police were on the scene earlier in the day.

God, we need ICE here in the BVI, too many idlers.

Sometimes it's the same "Born Here" causing a muck! Even if they are belonged too...we have to call out our own people on their shady behavior. God knows what that vehicle was used for!

Both things can be true. I accept that sometimes it is the "born here"; however, the BVI does not have sufficient resources to deal with both the "born here" and foreigners' crimes. The number of expats residing in the BVI (legally and illegally) should be reduced. We do not want to be a replica of other nations that are overcrowded on a small mass of land.

Crime is crime doesn’t matter who commits. This whole “born here/foreigners” argument is bul!$h!&. We need to be focusing on decreasing crime as a collective not trying to single out a specific group just place blame.

Crime is crime yes, but the BVI should not be bearing the financial burden of hosting criminals who has revocable legal status in the BVI. Do you get it now? It is not our responsibility. Send expat criminals back home and enforce adequate punishment for BVIslanders/Belongers. We need to focus on decreasing the expat population. This is a fact we can no longer be silent about!

This is the same Kia jeep that rob the guy in Alex parking lot…to the RVIPF all you need to to do is trace when this jeep drove there…and the vehicle that followed it to pick up the criminals…

You're teaching them the steps to do their job, but will they actually do it? A few months back, I reported a robbery in that area, but I never received any follow-up from them...and that's the Police Force!

That vehicle was reported stolen to the police. It was the getaway vehicle after the Pressure Busspipe Robbery. We can come in and help clean up the BVI from those illegal hoodlums.

The RVIPD need to put a stop to this or these guys will become more confident therefore more brazen robberies. Stop these criminals in their tracks. You must show them you are more smart than they are.

They are so freaking stupid…The only thing that would make sense is if they changed the license plate, but I highly doubt they are that sophisticated. Tighter regulations are needed with these rentals. It was stolen is always their excuse.

Many of these criminals' family members know that they are criminals and know the crimes they commit. The family members turn a blind eye and even support them in their lawlessness. In some cases, these same family members hold positions of respect in the community, and it is apparent that they see nothing wrong with their relatives' actions, especially when they also benefit from the proceeds of crime. The BVI will not get any better until we commit to an all-out war on crime and lawlessness.
