FREDERIKSTED, St Croix, USVI- [British] Virgin Islander Buney H. Chinnery, 22, has been sentenced to eight months in prison after being convicted of failure to heave to law enforcement and giving a false statement to US law enforcement authorities.

According to the evidence presented at trial, on October 31, 2022, at approximately 9:00 p.m., Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine agents were conducting border security patrol between the US and [British] Virgin Islands.

Agents approached Coral Bay, St John, and observed Chinnerys’ vessel operating without navigation lights.

Despite continued warnings and attempts to stop the vessel, Chinnery refused to stop and accelerate his vessel while operating it in an evasive manner.

Agents eventually disabled the vessel and later discovered Chinnery along with six individuals attempting to gain illegal entry into the United States.

According to a press release from the United States Department of Justice on June 28, 2023, the case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Natasha L. Baker.

Earlier this year, Chinnery was cleared of the more serious charge of trying to smuggle illegal immigrants into the United States.

Enjoy your 8 months of free room and board, get deported from the USVI and come back to the BVI to continue your bad deeds until they snatch you up again.

    Name identity up front photo.
That is the way to do it.
The BVI hides names identity and images every time but claim to be on the right side of the law. Bold traitors .

As I am aware you have to inform the immigration that you are leaving the island,so that to me is an offense.but as we know tola immigration know who to run down.look at all them illegal out in front riteway in road town waiting for someone to give them work,as if they are from here and doesn't need work permit.

you would be surprised to see who all have bvi passports and status. Hon. Hodge knew what he was doing when he was alive. He looked out for the poor and needy in those countries now they are our brother. All the names on tombstone have relatives all of a sudden. We need so d&a to verify all who are claiming to be our relatives.
