Bulldogs takes first game in best-of-five EE/LL B'Ball finals
Bulldogs defeated 49th Street 64-59 in the low scoring opener at the Belle Vue gym to pull off the win in regular time.
49th Street defeated Oddz in a game that went double over time to become the Division A champions on Friday, January 24, 2014, before joining the Bulldogs in the finals.
King was supported with 15 points from Travis Isaac and 13 points from Asiv Beazer. Isaac also grabbed a commanding 11 rebounds during the game while Kevon S. Lettsome also added 9 points and 3 rebounds.
Meanwhile, 49th Street’s David Lettsome threw in a losing 14-point effort for his team and received support from two other players, Gavin Frett (12) and Jahmal Rabsatt (10), both in double figures.
The team’s big man, Eustace ‘Boss’ Freeman grabbed 9 rebounds while adding 8 points and 3 blocks to the team’s scorecard.
Earlier, the Yardyz defeated the ESHS-Rams in an exhibition game, 53-48. The Yardyz’ Mickey Joseph and Requan Fahie combined for 12 points each to lead the scoring for their team.
No games will be played today, January 26, 2014 but the second game of the finals is expected to come off on Wednesday January 29, 2014 at 7pm.
In the first of two games ESHS-Rams will come up against Squad Up in another exhibition match while the second game will see the continuation of battle between the Nottingham Bulldogs and 49th Street.
Organisers advised that while admission is free, contributions to the cause will be collected during the last game until the league is finished. Proceeds go towards the League.
