Brodrick Penn In! Rosalie Adams out!
Mr. Penn will become the Chief Advisor to the Premier of the Virgin Islands Dr. the Honourable D. Orlando Smith.
He will replace Mrs. Rosalie Adams who was forced to retire earlier in 2011 than she had planned while serving under the Virgin Islands Party Government in the same post over the scandal of a leaked letter from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office about BiWater.
Following the 2011 General elections that saw the NDP regime gaining power, the Dr. D. Orlando Smith Administration immediately brought her back to office on a contract which would have ended December 31, 2013.
Many continue to speculate as to why she was brought back to office.
Mr. Penn to take helm
Mr. Penn, who was seconded from the Financial Services Commission (FSC) to the Premier’s Office in January 2013, a story firstly and accurately broken by this news site, is a Virgin Islander.
While at the FSC, Mr. Penn last served as the Director of Investment Business and has spent over a year understudying Mrs. Adams who had also served as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Communications and Works, as well as, the Ministry of Education and Culture.
It is unclear what date this month the transition will take place, as calls to the Office of the Premier were not returned up to press time.
Ritter-Freeman moving on up
Meanwhile, former Director of Communications of the H L Stoutt Community College Mrs. Geraldine Ritter-Freeman is expected to be named one of two Deputy Secretaries within the Premier’s Office in the coming weeks.
She had also served as the Chief Information Officer for the Government of the Virgin Islands.
Mr. Penn's professional qualifications include a Bachelors of Science degree he received in 1997 and LLM in International Tax Planning received in 2005 with certifications in Offshore Financial Centres, AML/Compliance and Trust and Estate Planning.
