Booths @ 2023 Irene F. Penn O’Neal Festiville taking shape
For most booth owners, construction has started and many are near completion. There are 25 booths this year, with an application high of over 40.
The 2003 festival village opens on July 31, 2023, until August 9, 2023.
Some of the entertainers scheduled to perform in the festival village include Ova Drive, Pure Mass, Banco Bizmol, Byron Messia, Morgan Heritage and Jada Kingdom, Kes the Band, Valiant and Patrice Roberts.
No censoring of artistes- Premier
At a Press Conference today, July 20, 2023, Premier Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (R7), when asked about controversial artistes Peanut Da Real Nut (PNDRN) and Byron Messia performing at the 2023 VI Emancipation Festival, noted he is not into censorship and each person can choose who they listen to.
The week of festival activities also includes a cultural event at Carrot Bay and a Jouvert in the eastern end of Tortola.

The BVI is the only Caribbean country where the cost of flights to get off island is more expensive than the cost of flights to get on island during festival.
