Booth holder says Kishma A. Baronville doesn’t listen
But all is not well on some fronts as there is a brewing discontent among some of the stallholders with the arrangements put in place by the new chairman of the VI Festival and Fairs Committee, Kishma A. Baronville.
One lady in particular has issues with Ms Baronville and does not believe she is doing a good job. Because of the nature of the issues, she does not want her name or photograph to appear with the story.
“I sympathise with all of the stallholders for the money that they have to spend and they bringing in outsiders and it costs us a lot. We have to learn to support our own so I am all for my own. But the reality is if certain bands are not playing people don’t come out. We can still find a way to get our food off without having to depend on bands in the night,” she said.
Making an issue out of nothing
She said her direct issue with Ms Baronville is what she called making an issue out of nothing. According to her, Ms Baronville ordered her to replace a piece of board on the floor of her booth. The board, she said, had three or four small holes.
“It have other things that is disturbing…all like this little thing that she come with…Lord have mercy suppose I don’t have a board to put down here. I have been in here for 37 years,” said the irate stall holder.
“She just come…she walking around with her phone taking pictures…and when she passed back she told me I have to take up this piece of board or get something and put in the hole. I don’t want no confusion with nobody so I will see if I can find something to put in the little holes that people heels don’t go down because I don’t want nothing with her,” she said.
“My biggest thing is selling food during the day and Ms Baronville said that she is going to lock the gate during the day that nobody can drive in during the day. That is going to hinder me like you won’t believe. When people see the gate locked and they have no parking nearby, they gone,” she lamented.
I can't take this foolishness
“And we are trying to talk to her and she just don’t come down and try to listen to our points,” the woman said.
“One thing I would suggest to the Minister [Hon Myron V. Walwyn] is that when they are having their meetings how about bringing one of the booth owners to sit in those meetings to give a little input,” she said.
“I have been in here for 37 years and believe you me I am ready to say adios. I can’t take the foolishness. I am ready to go by the laws of the police…I am ready to go by the laws of the health people, but this foolishness like that when she going come and tell me about this piece of wood here…I mean if the wood was rotten and somebody could fall through and hurt themselves, yes, but don’t come and tell me that little piece of wood there got to take up,” she stressed.
The woman is maintaining that for this year there were a lot of changes in terms of applying for liquor licence and other things.
Baronville defends actions
However, in a comment to this news site, Ms Baronville defended her actions regarding the piece of board that must be changed as just.
She also maintained that nothing has changed from the last three or four years.
“It is a public venue, so we as a committee must be concerned with safety of the persons who come in there. Sometimes while you are in party mode you are not looking out for your own safety and it is the responsibility of the Committee that persons have a safe environment,” Baronville said.
“There are construction rules…they are not new to returning vendors and we expect persons to observe those rules because they are put in place in order to safeguard the public.”
Baronville said the Committee has not restricted any booth owner from selling lunch and that vendors were free to sell their food during the day.

Some people just too damn ignorant!! When people don't get their own way they run straight to VINO with their petty bull%^&&. If the wood has holes in it, does it matter big or small? It is a #$%^^& liability and people can be hurt, just follow the damn rules. If there is an issue with selling during the day then get ALL booth owners to meet with the committee. I'm sure the issue is for the paying nights, some people will drive inside during the day and leave their vehicles in there and/or they just remain and catch the show, which is not fair to the promoters. Follow the f#$%^& rules or don't put another booth in there, simple. I sure where she from she can't go on with her f#$%%^y?
LB scatter your sk**t with your bullshit. You all wonder why BVI can't get anywhere? Anytime people put a stop to foolishness they are hated. The girl is doing her job and because you people can't get your way, its a problem. The BVI will continue to got to hell because of nasty attitudes and mindsets like yourself. If it was such a problem, where are all the other booth owners complaining? Hush your sk**t man.
She is a p*g for real and don't know how to talk and deal with People.
She is a new comer and her cronies are new comers but they aren't listening. Just like the NDP who put her there. How she and the Samuels girl got so high in Festival so fast without any experience, and before other more experience people, the world will wonder. People tell her to open the village from the Friday and she didn't listen. It take the booth owners to complain to MVW to get it changed so they could be open from this weekend. Why she didn't listen? These people are too bad minded. They have no respect for the people who have been sacrificing long before they got their positions of power. People like them and that Magistrate and others with chips on their shoulders you do not put in positions of power. Angel face and devil heart!
Why do people here have to argue about everything and cannot accept change.
When you on the outside looking in you have no clue about what's going on behind the scenes. how about you really do your homework & find out from the people what really going on. They had MB, they complain bout him but I bet you didn't see nor hear this type of foolishness going on when he was in. He must be sitting back watching and laughing his @zz off at what taking place now. You know what you have but you don't know what you will get.
Them need to stop! I swear when you see tolians get lil position it goes to their heads and they display the biggity behavior. Them need to relax & take several seats. Festival is not about them it's about the BVI. Them attitude stinks to high heaven but guess what ppl like them who feel they chest bigger than everybody else will never stop to listen to anything anybody else has to say. Reminds me of some gov ministers.
All the yrs Village around never once anybody decide to deny the public access from going to the village during the day to buy food but here comes ms highty tighty with that nonsense. Why? what's in it for you. Guarantee you come next year & she still chairperson more persons will drop out, hell it might not even have 1 booth all because the people can't put up with sh*tty attitude. This is only the beginning it have a lot more blasting to go.
Parillon there cause nobody wants to work with K.......He's the only j**k@$$ who said since nobody will I will. will sit and continue sipping my tea.
It look like only NDP supporters can be in position....but wait and see.
Ms. >> biggest issue is that she doesn't know how to speak to people. And she is unapproachable. I seriously wish her and this festival season well.
CANT TALK TO PEOPLE AND MOVES LIKE THEM BETTER THAN PEOPLE. NEEDS TO STOP RIDING THAT HORSE AND TAKE SOME SEATS
All you have to do is allow the gate to be open from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm and even
at that time if the booths have any deliveries to receive from Tico, RTW or even Supa
Valu it can be done in that time frame. Just a suggestion.
