Bomb threat @ Home Depot in USVI another hoax- VIPD
FREDERIKSTED, St Croix, USVI— Home Depot on St Croix, US Virgin Islands (USVI) received another bomb threat on Monday May 29, 2017, but like the other times that the facility had to evacuate employees in search of a bomb, the threat — Home Depot St Croix’s third in under two years — turned out to be another hoax, according to the [US] Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD).
The bomb threat was reported at 12:19 PM, with officers clearing the shopping facility as safe at about 1:48 PM, according to Glen Dratte, the VIPD’s public information officer. At least one concerned resident reached out to The Consortium about the incident, prompting the publication to seek out more details from the VIPD.
Approximately one year ago, Home Depot received a bomb threat that forced the store’s management to evacuate employees and shoppers. On September 11 2015, a similar threat was made, with all turning out to be hoaxes.
The threats to the store have traditionally been made through anonymous phone calls, according to records. Each time a threat is made, the facility’s management must take the threat seriously by contacting the local authorities, who in turn follow normal procedures of evacuating the area and conducting a complete search of the facility.
