Bolt could lose relay gold if Carter tests positive
KINGSTON, Jamaica -- Usain Bolt's 2008 Beijing Olympic 4x100 metre relay gold medal could be in jeopardy after teammate Nesta Carter was identified as one of 32 athletes whose A sample tested positive for a banned substance, worldwide media outfits are reporting Friday morning.
OBSERVER ONLINE reported Wednesday that the A sample from an unnamed Jamaican athlete tested positive for a banned substance when retrospective drug tests from the Beijing Olympics were conducted.
The implications would be far reaching if the B sample also proved positive, the OBSERVER ONLINE report said then.
However, this morning news media across the world, including the BBC and AFP named Carter as the offending athlete.
Carter was also a member of the London Olympics 4x100 metre Jamaica relay team.
