Body found @ extreme depth in Bahamian blue hole
The search for a man who reportedly drowned in Dean's Blue Hole on Long Island, Bahamas, came to an end Monday evening.
At approximately 5:45 pm, search teams located the body of a man who had gone missing on Saturday.
In a joint operation, local police and the Bahamas Defence Force deployed an unmanned submersible drone to conduct a search of the blue hole.
The drone's footage revealed the body's location at a depth of 600 feet below sea level.
The extreme depth of the discovery presented significant challenges for recovery efforts as authorities strategized a safe way to bring the body to the surface.
Dean's Blue Hole is renowned for its extraordinary depth. It ranks as the world's third deepest blue hole, with an estimated depth of 202 meters (663 feet). Only the Taam Ja' Blue Hole in Chetumal Bay and the Dragon Hole in the South China Sea surpass it in depth.
