Boat reportedly ran aground at Fat Hogs Bay

-No reports of injuries

HODGE’S CREEK, Tortola, VI- A powerboat returning from the Leverick Bay Poker Run reportedly ran aground in the Fat Hogs Bay area last evening May, 27, 2013.

There have not been any reports of injuries.

According to information reaching Virgin Islands News Online from reliable sources, the incident took place sometime after 7: 30 P.M.

One source told this news site that visibility was poor but could not say how the boat ended up running aground. The same source also said it didn’t appear as though persons were seriously injured.

President of the Virgin Islands Search and Rescue (VISAR) Phil Aspinall said, however, that he was not aware of any boat incident at Fat Hogs Bay last evening.

Virgin Islands News Online was told that the vessel may have been removed since last night or very early this morning.

Hospital sources also indicated that no one came in for medical attention following any boat accident. 

Police Information Officer Diane Drayton has so far not been able to confirm any reports of such an incident but promised to “look into it”.
