Bitter End Yacht Club launches auction to support area SeaSweeps
In partnership with Sunchaser Scuba and ARK BVI (Association of Reef Keepers), The Bitter End Foundation is raising funds to support a yearlong programme to clean up the seabed and shorelines surrounding North and Eustatia Sounds – and they have invited their family of long time guests to join them in this wonderful endeavor.
Prior to Hurricane Irma, over 60 hammocks were sprinkled around the resort, on the decks of rooms, swinging between palm trees, lining the beaches, and nestled into rocky outcroppings. Every resort guest and boat visitor at BEYC was sure to have a favourite hammock.
When “Bitter End Yacht Club 2.0” debuts in 2020, hammocks will once again be front and center. But this time, 12 of them will have been purchased by Bitter End enthusiasts in support of monthly SeaSweeps of the shoreline and seabed surrounding North Sound and Eustatia Sound.
“The BVI and Virgin Gorda are known for their pristine beauty” commented Bitter End Yacht Club’s Managing Owner Lauren Hokin. “It is our goal to keep them that way,” she added.
The 12 locations have been carefully selected in collaboration with Sunchaser Scuba and ARK BVI. And guests and boat visitors are invited to join in on the clean-ups on the appointed days.
The first scheduled SeaSweep took place this past Friday, January 10, 2020 focusing on the north side of Prickly Pear Island (and the beautiful beach facing Necker and Eustatia Islands).
