Bishop John I. Cline wants to run for political office- Hon Turnbull
Hon Turnbull was responding to a question from Cathy O. Richards, who asked his opinion on Bishop Cline’s comment during the newest episode of JTV's The Big Story on February 18, 2025.
“No one gave Bishop John Ivan Cline the authority to dictate to leaders elected by the people what they should and shouldn’t do,” Hon Turnbull said.

According to Hon Turnbull, the motive behind Bishop Cline’s comments should be questioned. He explained that he was to meet with Bishop Cline, his uncle; however, on the morning of their meeting, he received messages informing him of Bishop Cline’s The Big Story interview.
“So on one hand it is okay for you to do as you please because you have this title as a nation leader but on my hand when we as leaders elected by the people and me specifically for three terms, elected by the people of the Second District, make a decision that is in the best interest of the people and answering the call of the people it is called divisive or whatever,” Hon Turnbull stated.
The motive behind Bishop Cline’s statements is that the Bishop wishes to run for political office, Hon Turnbull opined.
“I know this because he came to me; I know this because he had a conversation with Hon Walwyn, so it is not just about what he thinks is divisive,” he added.
Bishop Cline tried to get me to join VIP- Hon Turnbull claims
Hon Turnbull said that Bishop Cline, on the night of the April 2023 elections, attempted to “take me from the PVIM camp to go join the Virgin Islands Party…so when you talk about divisiveness and loyalty, we have to be honest and upfront”.
He continued that leadership is about principle and answering the call of the people of the Territory.
“It’s not about my aspirations…it is about what the people are asking us to do and what the people have asked for us to do is what Hon Walwyn, Hon Mather and myself have decided to do [is to] to work towards the next election where Progressive Virgin Islands Movement and the National Democratic Party stand as one united front to contest the next general elections to take this country from the ills and the pains that they are continuing to feel,” Hon Turnbul stated.

For many years and ongoing money mongering such as the above, have played the political game, and conned the B.V.I public of their ability of good management of our financial well-being. Are we going to allow the to continue as usual? If we do, we should not complain any more.

Unless the Lord watchs over the City (the B.V.I people's assets) the (false and deceitful) watchmen (political and so-called Christians false bishops and self interest persons) watch in vain.

It is not profitable to toil all, and lose precious rest and sleep at night planning how to increase your spoils that will turn to ashes, but for the beloved that trusted in God daily provision, they rest and sleep peaceful.
Y’all here getting the gripes because Turnbull let us th e public know what we all can clearly see - John Cline is power hungry and is behind there scenes lobbying for a spot on a party ticket. Last time he ran he got about 400+ votes which was less than 2% of the total cast. VIP is so weak that its only options are recycled losers next election. The voting landscape has changed and the small pockets of voters that backed them see that this REMIX version of VIP is a big joke. Keep the pressure on them as it is evident the cracks on all (3) parties is on display. VIP willing to do ANYTHING to hold on to power, even taking on Fraser and Lorna. Desperate much?!?
