Biras Creek Resort, located in Virgin Gorda, Virgin Islands, is seeking applicants for the position of Chief Engineer.

The Chief Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and efficient operation
of all resort facilities, systems, and infrastructure. This role requires a strong background in
electrical engineering and hands-on experience managing maintenance teams.

The Chief
Engineer will implement preventive maintenance programs, ensure compliance with safety
standards, and oversee the maintenance of vehicles (Boats, cars, golfcarts and heavy machinery),
HVAC, electrical, plumbing, RO and mechanical systems to guarantee seamless operations
across the property.
Key Responsibilities
Facility & Systems Management:
• Oversee the maintenance (both preventive & reactive), repair, and operation of resort
facilities, including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and fire safety systems.
• Ensure uninterrupted operation of all critical infrastructure & vehicles, minimizing
downtime and service disruptions.
• Develop and enforce safety procedures to comply with local regulations and industry best
practices.
• Build and manage a team of mechanics, electricians, plumbers and specialists
Preventive Maintenance & Compliance:
• Establish and implement a preventive maintenance schedule for all resort equipment,
buildings, and vehicles.
• Conduct regular inspections to identify maintenance needs and ensure corrective actions
are taken.
• Maintain records of maintenance activities and spare parts inventory levels.
• Coordinate with local authorities and regulatory bodies for required permits and
inspections.
Team Leadership & Supervision:
• Lead and manage a team of maintenance staff, ensuring high performance and efficiency.
• Assign tasks, oversee daily operations, and provide training to maintenance personnel.
• Promote a culture of accountability, safety, and excellence within the engineering
department.
Project Management & Cost Control:
• Plan and oversee capital improvement projects, renovations, and upgrades to resort
infrastructure.
• Manage maintenance budgets, control costs, and source materials and equipment
efficiently.
• Work closely with vendors, contractors, and suppliers to negotiate and manage service
agreements.
Emergency Preparedness & Response
• Develop and implement emergency response procedures for system failures, power
outages, and natural disasters.
• Ensure backup power systems and emergency response equipment are maintained and
fully operational.
• Collaborate with other departments to coordinate emergency drills and safety training.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the
hospitality/resort or Marine industry.
• Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems, as well as HVAC and
fire safety protocols.
• Proven experience in leading maintenance teams and implementing preventive
maintenance programs.
• Ability to manage budgets, control costs, and coordinate with contractors and suppliers.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently
and under pressure.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a proactive approach to teamwork.
