Belle Vue Man charged for choking & beating woman
Collin Stevens appeared before the Magistrate’s Court on March 14, 2014 to answer charges of common assault and damage to property for offences allegedly committed on July 25, 2013.
Virgin Islands News Online understands the defendant’s wife reportedly met the Virtual Complainant (VC) sometime in the morning to hang out and later they both headed west on Water Front Drive.
The VC saw the defendant’s wife on her phone and heard her ask the person on the other end where they were and whether they were getting something to eat.
The two met the defendant at the RiteWay parking lot and the wife and her husband had a conversation.
The woman saw the door of the defendant’s jeep kept banging against her car door and asked him to stop letting his door hit hers, but he allegedly refused.
The VC saw the defendant allegedly hold his wife by the throat and push her up against her (the VC’s) jeep causing it to dent. The VC held him by his clothes and told him to remove but he allegedly beat her with his fist. He also allegedly pulled her hair and also held her in a headlock.
She was eventually able to get free with the help of bystanders. The woman suffered injuries to her ears and jaw and had several items damaged by the defendant.
Stephens was later charged and placed before the court. The charges were not read during his appearance and he will reappear on a later date when he is expected to offer a plea.
