Battle against UK, ‘It's not a battle for me, it’s for the VI’- Premier Wheatley
“It's not a battle for me, it’s not a battle for the members of this administration. This is a battle for the Virgin Islands. I don't think it's a good thing to be gleeful when this Virgin Islands is facing a difficult battle like this,” he said in response to questions from the media on whether the "battle against the UK" has been lost.
The Premier was at the time speaking at a January 8, 2024, press conference on an update on the Implementation of the COI Recommendations in the VI, and how the VI moves forward in terms of preserving democracy.
“I think all of us have to stand in solidarity, regardless of your challenges with any particular administration. You know that's what elections are for, that's what public meetings are for, that's what protests are for…all are part of democracy. Those are the tools we use not colonial tools like taking away democracy,” he said.
Gov't now awaiting OT Minister response
Meanwhile, with the Premier now awaiting a response from UK Minister for Overseas Territories (OT), Hon David H. Rutley for his support ‘to stay true to democracy’ against the Governor's plan for additional powers in the VI, he said he will not preempt the response of the UK Minister.
“I'm not going to determine what the response of the letter will be. We'll send the letter, we'll also engage our partners throughout the region to support us. We will engage the C24, we'll engage the other leaders of the Overseas Territories to support us and then of course, when we get the response from the minister, we'll discuss the next steps with my colleagues.”
Premier Wheatley said the plan is to press forward to success with a reminder that the VI will do whatever is necessary to preserve democracy in the territory.

1) More women as Governors and not just one or two lately since 2020. This says what they think about women.
2) They should have had one black person as Governor in the 21st century. It shows their position on racism.
3) At least one or more persons from the Caribbean as Governors. It shows they are not interested in developing the people of the Caribbean and have a ceiling for them on how far they should progres.
4) At least have documented somewhere the procedures any OT must follow if they want independence. The process should be known to all. When the process is not known to all it shows their intentions are not pure nor transparent.
These simple things exposes the true agenda of the Brits. They need to stop taking the people of the Caribbean for a$#E$.
1) Take over Immigration: He wants to immediately give over 4000 of his kind status so they can out number the people of the BVI and then allow them to have a secondary take over plan.
2) Pass the new police act on his own: He wants to give the police unlimited powers to do many anti-democratic things such as but not limited to searching anyone's home without a warrant and do so on mere suspicion. Talk about making the BVI a police state where people will have no basic human nor democratic rights.
3) He wants to pass the Jury Act: Here is where he wants the cases to proceed without any jury to decided the cases but rather have the Judge themselves decide if you are guilty. Not only is this anti democratic but it represents dictatorship as all the UK will do next is flood the position of Judges with persons from the UK who have like minds as them against the locals and Caribbean people. It is another tier of their take over plan.
4) Powers to pass laws by himself without HOA: Here is where he wants to legalize same sex marriage. Here is where he wants to redefine who is a Virgin Islander.
I will stop there for now but people of the BVI these people have no good intention for us. They have no respect for our democracy and democratic rights. It is time to wake up and stand up for what is right and represents true democracy and not sit back and allow a wicked agenda by the Brits to get through.

I will stop there for now as the BVI and their leaders strengths far outweigh the weaknesses. The BVI took the mess and turn it into a good message as the UK only had the BVI to be a messy bird sanctuary. So you back up with you nonsense because the true BVI people know who they are and not who the Brits trying to portray us as for their own wicked agenda.
Moreover, leadership is more about behavior than skill. As such, words in action speaks far greater than words in print. Effective leadership requires much unselfishness and sacrifices for the greater good. Consequently, the Premier cannot and should not wait for the Minister of Overseas Territories, Hon David Hutley, to respond to his letter; he must take urgent proactive action.
Good leaders demonstrate exemplary vision, set the tone, lead by personal example, exhibit the right style, coach the team, and demonstrate the ability to handle adversity, which is a certainty for public officials. The Premier must take the lead , motivate the troops, marshall the resources, plan, organize, and march, lead from the front up the hill. Strike like rattler,,strike, strike, and strike again.
will know what to do . And blondie , here is your chance to shine , let's see you go down to the governor and personally remove the the colonialist rankin as you keep calling him ( or sit down in the street try a fake protest as a publicity stunt so you can get it the spotlight
