Barney Crook wins 2019 Commodore's Race in Airgasm

Ten boats took part in the race on a bright and squally day, with the Mulithulls and Racing classes heading up to Hog Valley Green marker off Brandywine Bay, across to round Salt Island to port and Cooper Island to starboard before returning to Nanny Cay to finish.
Eddie Brockbank made a quick getaway in his Corsair Lucky 7 and took line honours after just over two hours on the race course; however, Barney Crook's Airgasm came in just two minutes later which was enough on corrected time to give him the class and the overall Commodore's Race win.
Ted Reshetiloff, skippering Whoop Whoop was third.
In his first RBVIYC event with new trimaran Ping, Chris Haycraft was forced to retire after discovering one of the daggerboards was missing. By some miracle the said daggerboard turned up later that evening!
Spike!
Three monohulls entered the racing class.
Spike, skippered by Sam Talbot, came out on top while in second place was Henry Leonnig's Firewater.
Gilbo Simpson and Tim Parsons on The Black Pig were third.
Convincing win for Lettsome
The Lasers took a brutal first beat up to Hog Valley Green then back to a windward leeward with a slightly shorter second lap. Top national youth sailor Thad A. Lettsome showed them how it’s done, taking a convincing win from Graham Harney and coach Chris Watters.
The prize giving was held at the Royal BVI Yacht Club ahead of the annual Commodore’s Dinner.
