MAIN STREET, Road Town, Tortola, VI – Mi Amor Jewellers, located on Main Street next to Gloria Mid-Town Restaurant in Road Town, Tortola has been burglarized according to reports coming out from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF).

The incident was said to occur sometime between last evening, Friday, December 28, 2018, or early this morning, Saturday, December 29, 2018.

While details are sketchy and said to be under Police investigation, it is believed that the perpetrators made off with thousands of dollars in jewellery that included gold chains, luxury watches and diamond rings.

Value unknown

The exact value of the merchandise stolen is unknown at this time, however, is said to be substantial.

Following Hurricane Irma and Maria in 2017 the store had moved from its Wickams Cay I, location to Tortola’s Main Street. It is also unclear whether Security measures were in place at the new store location.

Statistics of this type of crime over the ongoing holiday season are unknown at this time, however, neither the Police Commissioner, Michael B. Mathews nor the Store Manager, Ms Eileen Bourke could be reached for comments at news publication time.

Our news team will bring more details once they become available.

A lot of businesses here seem to have bad business practices. Not using safes, not removing stuff from showcases at the end of the business day. And as the BVI gets more developed crime will also come and criminals will take advantage of such lax practices......

I’m not speaking bad I’m speaking reality
There’s a lot of people without jobs some are only doing 3 days a week . Not much full time jobs and more people coming in and getting permit .? Why not make everyone employed and then do more permits. I agreed some are lazy and bad minded. A lot of people are not qualify for a job so they are going to want the jobs they are qualify for

I don’t believe this one should be credited to joblessness tarl tarl. I use to think this “not wanting to work rather fast money” was only a Caribbean disease sorry to say it’s not. I spoke to a European recently and he says this same disease is pasted over Europe also. Bvislanders and other Caribbean natives alike doing this thing. As mothers brothers sisters cousins fathers relatives wives husbands etc... how much of these robbers murderers and drug dealers are we harboring how much have we turned a blind eye to. These politicians judges and lawyers police officers who’s apart of the cults helping them to get away free because they(the wrongdoers) are apert of their gathering. The stand you take today will impact the bvi in a good or bad way tomorrow. May the Lord Jesus bless your hearts
