August Monday Parade comes off with 42 entries
The small number of participation was still noted, however, and it took some stretching out of the troupes and other entries for the parade, which had the usual late start, to last over two hours.
Entries included One BVI, One Mart, Tortola Dance Project, Government Troupe, Zuma Fitness Dance Party, BVI Heritage Dancers, Rotary Club of Tortola, Limping Jack from way back, Majorettes, Shimmer and Sheen Klassique, VIBE, Intrigue Dancers, Kids Play, Elite Sky Dancers and Relentless.
There were some 42 entries, showing again that participation continues to dwindle from year to year.
Spectators noted too that the costumes were not elaborate and the explanation given is that many of the entries decided to support the event at the last minute and did not have enough time to focus on anything extravagant.
A positive for all, including the many persons that lined the roadway to get a glimpse of the parade, is that the inclement weather subsided just in time for the annual event, a highlight of Virgin Islands Emancipation Festival.

Meanwhile, the DJ of the Road title went to TRIBE while VIBE took its third consecutive Road March title.

1) It started so late that many people were angry and tired and some went home without seeing it.
2) We only need government to pay for 4 days of Festival, after that communities can fund their own on the days they want it.
3) With government only doing 4 days, that extra money they were wasting for 12 days of Festival can now restart our Agriculture week, which is sorely missed and needed.
4) For next year let's be organized, respectful, fun and on time for once. 3 hours late is unacceptable and a insult of our time and patience.
5) For the rest of the days activities, let there be PEACE!
You guys need to improve your act. But on the up side the people of the BVI were very friendly and the food amazing. Start planning for next year from now.
