ASPS building to be demolished on Monday
According to a bulletin from Government Information Services (GIS) on Friday, March 31, 2023, the demolition will begin from 9:00 AM.
Pedestrians as well as motorists have been asked to exercise caution when traversing in the area of the demolition project.
The ASPS building was deemed structurally unsafe last year and the building was left unused.
Students have been placed at various schools in the interim.
A 'last chant'
Meanwhile, alumni, teachers and students of ASPS gathered at the school’s playfield on Saturday, April 1, 2023, for a ‘last chant’ and to roll back fond memories of the school known as ‘The Striders’
Persons wore pink and maroon shirts for the event that was attended by Education Minister Hon Sharie B. de Castro (AL) and Deputy Premier and Minister for Communications and Works Hon Kye M. Rymer, the current Fifth District Representative.
Also present was the retired principal of ASPS, Marieta C. Flax-Headley, who is contesting the Second District seat as a Virgin Islands Party (VIP) candidate.
According to Hon de Castro, the new Althea Scatliffe School Building should be ready for the 2024-2025 academic year.
