ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Deputy Premier and Minister of Communications, Works and Utilities, Hon Kye M. Rymer (R5) has expressed gratitude that the Virgin Islands (VI) is well on its way to pre-pandemic life following the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic in the territory.

The Minister in his 2022 holiday message, reminded that while the year was not an easy one, he remains grateful to be alive and to celebrate yet another holiday season and to share greetings on behalf of his wife, children, and neighbors of the 5th District.

“Earlier this year the territory was adjusting to normalcy on the heels of the COVID-19 pandemic. Today we can say, praise be to God, we are almost 100% back to our pre-pandemic life,” Hon Rymer added.

“I take this time to remember loved ones we've lost this year. Losing a loved one is never easy and there will always be remembered by the people they impacted during their lifetime. This year, my message is centered around giving thanks, you will all agree that we have so much to be thankful for,” he said.

Hon Rymer added that he remains thankful for much and including giving thanks to god for blessing him with the opportunity to serve the VI, “I'm grateful for the undying support of my family, as their support has provided me a pillar of strength to persevere through these unprecedented times."

Message of thanks

"I'm especially grateful to my neighbors for trusting me to bring the 5th district alive. I also take this opportunity to express sincere gratitude to the Permanent Secretary and staff of the Ministry of Communications and Works for their hard work and dedication to improving the territories infrastructure,” he said.

The Deputy Premier noted that during the season, as the VI remembers persons who are still struggling, persons must lend a helping hand to someone.

“Let us visit and pray for our sick and shut-in and less fortunate families at this time,” he said while promising to pay usual visits throughout the local districts to spread Christmas cheers as is customary.

Except the flow of traffic in the wrong direction! This needs to return to what it was and use traffic police during the peak hours. Roads in disrepair in his district and noise has increased in his neighbourhood! We can’t see the change you’ve made. We says thanks to American Eagle for returning as they had planned to do.

Covid made a lot of rich people richer and give a lot of wicked people excuses to continue being wicked. China is the most wicked of all, they are using Covid to lock down the anti government regions in China. Some people make so much money from covid that they are doing everything to bring it back.. Covid will never be the same serious threat again, most world leaders are up to their games and know that they have made mistakes and are prepare to live life with any other threat of Covid. No need worry about covid. The greedy and wicked might come with something else. Lets focus on life and living good, caring and loving to each other.

The damage COVID caused is so severe that it will be years before any country get back to pre-covid times.

I am not a political person nor support any one political party but I believe in being fair. Minister I understand your take on this matter but due to the severe damage COVID caused worldwide it will be years before we return to pre COVID levels . We all agree that we need to continue to do better as a country but the government has tried and their efforts must be recognized and not be like Mitch and Marlon to state until they joined the government the government did nothing well other than create mess is not a fair assessment. The building of the new High School buildings to take the teacher and staff of ESHS out of those moldy buildings is major. Direct flights from the USA is major. The building of the new school at JVD is major. Construction of many new public roads and buildings in JVD and the other islands is major. Repairs to most government buildings and infrastructure on all islands (JVD, Anegada, Virgin Gorda, Tortola) that were damaged since Irma is major. Despite some may disagree but the handling of COVID which was the worse pandemic in 100 years was major especially when you compare the BVI government to how other governments handled this major pandemic. My point is that these and other major accomplishments were done in a time of little funds due to the damaging and lasting effects of COVID and it is not fair to judge any current government outside of this phenomenon. The government has done plenty good but we agree we still have a long way to go.

Kye M. Rymer, You way over your head, I hope the people who put you there will realize that the made a dig mistake, you messed up the traffic in Road Town, you learned to tell untruths from the Head Coach, and half the time you don't know what you are talking about.
