Antiguan mother & children stranded in VI seeking help to return home
Cacy Christian, 32, according to Antigua Observer, came to Tortola with her 9-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter on March 6, 2020 for a 2-week vacation but ended up stranded after the Territory closed its borders due to the coronavirus pandemic.
She has reportedly been living on a boat her father owns but said it has now become challenging especially since her father has been working reduced hours at BVI Ports Authority.
Locals have been assisting
Christian, however, admitted that locals on Tortola have been assisting her with food and clothing but she is now requiring assistance to return to Antigua.
She allegedly told the Observer she has reached out to government officials in Antigua for assistance without success.
The woman also said, according to Antigua Observer, that she has sought to get a refund from the airline she had booked her return ticket from so she could purchase another ticket for a flight home but was told she would have to wait 90 days for a refund.
‘It’s hard having 2 children in this situation’
“That’s just ridiculous. I can’t wait here three months again,” the woman reportedly told the publication.
She also said he has likely lost her job at a gas station in Antigua.
“So I am just pleading to the Government or anyone in Antigua that can help me get back home. It’s hard having two children in this situation,” Ms Christian reportedly said.
The publication did not say whether Ms Christian reached out to the VI Government for assistance.

Another storm is churning in the Atlantic and soon youall will start to post prayers until it pass. Set of hypocrites. Love thy neighbor as theyself. Youall don't know when it going be your day.
Going a bit further I'm sure if 2000 people give this family one dollar we can charter a flight to get them to their home land with the social distancing especially for the sake of those children. The question have you heard the cry. What are we going to do as an individual. Forget about Government and ask our self what can we do to help.this family. She is very grateful for the help from some of our people here who have gone the extra mile to help.
