ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Summer Sizzle BVI 2017, in its ninth year, certainly lived up to its name when organisers transformed the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex in Road Town into a New York City style runway arena, yesterday, Saturday, July 22, 2017.
The Global Glamour Runway show has been a significant part of Summer Sizzle BVI, featuring ready-to-wear collections from established international, local and emerging designers. It is the most anticipated show of the Summer Sizzle BVI and each year patrons look forward in seeing spectacular designs.
Continuing the recent trend of the show being hosted by celebrities, Eva Marcille, winner of America’s Next Top Model Cycle 3, TV host and actress was the host of the night.
“I am very excited to be here right now, to host this year’s Summer Sizzle BVI 2017,” said Ms Marceille.
9-year-old designer
The event started off with the ‘kids’, as they rocked the runway with pieces from D’Obvious Rose, by Saphhire Autumn Rose, a talented nine year old designer. Patrons were flabbergasted by the different pieces in the collection.
Virgin Islands’ (VI) very own Akeem Stanley, showcased stunning dresses that had the patrons in amazement.
Jessica Jarrell, an American R&B/Pop artiste and actress, entertained the patrons with her newest hit single, ‘How Was I’ and ‘100 Percentin’.
Colourful end
As the Summer Sizzle BVI 2017 came to an end, patrons were wowed when models hit the catwalk in colourful pieces by Yumi Katsura by Paulette Cleghorn. Cheers and flashing of cameras by patrons indicated that the Yumi Katsura was the most admired collection of the show.
The Global Glamour Runway show saw an assortment of elegant and glamorous pieces by Anthony Franco, LA celebrity designer, Miriam Budet and Eddie Guerrera from Puerto Rico, Yumi Katsura, Cesar Galindo, Andrew Nowell from New York City, Akeem Stanley from VI, Irredescent Fashion from St Kitts, and Cole Facts by Michelle Cole from Guyana and New York.
Summer Sizzle BVI 2017 will end with a sailing excursion and beach BBQ on Virgin Gorda today, Sunday July 23, 2017, as the models, designers, artistes and other individuals enjoy their last taste of the VI.
