ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The Virgin Islands is now dealing with a 6th COVID-19 case while 189 persons are in quarantine, Government announced today, April 24, 2020.

Further, it was announced by Premier and Minister of Finance, Honourable Andrew A. Fahie (R1) that the round-the-clock curfew will be lifted from 6:00am on Monday, April 27, 2020, but a curfew will remain in place from 1:00pm to 6:00am for 2 weeks until Sunday, May 10, 2020, but subject to constant review.

During the lifting of the curfew, residents will be allowed to shop but will need to practice social distancing and are being encouraged to wear a mask.

Selected businesses will have to be inspected and given approval for operation and will have to follow strict guidelines, including sanitisation and social distancing.

The borders and beaches will remain closed.

3 recoveries, 2 active cases

Meanwhile, the announcement of the new COVID-19 case comes days after it was announced that a 5th person, who had been in contact with a 52-year-old woman who died from COVID-19 on April 18, 2020, had tested positive for the virus.

3 persons have been cleared by CARPHA as having recovered from COVID-19.

The latest positive case means the Territory now has two active cases of the virus.

"Since my last update, 9 samples were tested by CARPHA. Eight of these samples were negative for the virus that causes COVID-19 and one additional case was detected…This brings the number of COVID-19 cases detected in the BVI to 6,” Deputy Premier and Minister for Health and Social Development, Honourable Carvin Malone (AL) stated.

The Health Minister added that 10 additional samples were sent to the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) in Trinidad and Tobago for testing.

And, according to Governor Augustus J. U. Jaspert, the additional case should though not be a shock or a cause for panic, "but should be a reminder about the importance of the measures we need to take. If you had not stayed at home the risks of the virus spreading across our Territory would have been much greater. So again - thank you very much."

More details to follow.

Wow they really have you fooled. Research shows this co-vid19 (2019!) was out months before what was previously reported. In new studies many persons have the antibodies to show they had it and already recovered.

We live in a world of China today jump on a plane and you are in the BVI tomorrow. This thing was already going around.

Sars - another 'corona virus' - had a much higher mortality rate, research it.

This is the one 'they' want to capitalize on.

Next come economic collapse to make you desperate and the mandatory vaccine to return your life to normal.

      New world order.

Landlords and tenants need to have a sit down to discuss this because I know there’s lots of people unemployed how will people pay rent? & how will landlords pay their mortgage? We need something in place 50/50 to help tenants and landlords. But if your a civil servant you working for the government or your job still paying you pay your rent period.
    • To Happy (24/04/2020, 19:28) Like (32) Dislike (1) Reply
I agree. But, let's not forget there are many tenants who dont like to pay their rent and the virus only gives them more reason to not pay. Don't get me wrong, I know some people go through hardships and may not be able to pay their rent, but there are some tenants who are just wicked and selfish cause they have the money, but refuse to pay the rent.

In actuality,we do not know how many cases there are in the VI. We do not have an adequate amount of testing equipment that would enable us to test more of the population and make a more valid determination .
I am amazed at the lack of understanding in the general population concerning the presence of this virus .

And there will be crowds trying in those short hours out o sheer necessity. To pay employees, to make transactions, to get money. Really this is really really poor planning. Open up with regular hours and disperse the crowds mon!

They really dont and i keep hearing them talk about vaccine like we are being prepped. Well seasoned before we get cooked.

Fear makes people easy to control and manipulate. Hot topic right now is that everyone who gets it will die.

9000 confirmed cases in the carribbean. Around 400 deaths. We all know Caribbean people will not volunteer to be tested. The real count is much much higher.

And that means the virus is much much less deadly than what we are being led to believe.

These things happen someone will bring it in again sooner or later.

No bio-chip-population-control-generational-mutation-causing vaccine for me. I will go postal.
