Anegada Lobster Fest to continue despite COVID-19 threat
This was revealed at a Friday, November 26, 2021, press conference led by Premier and Minister of Finance, Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1) alongside Minister for Natural Resources and immigration, Hon Vincent O. Wheatley (R9).
COVID-19 & festivals
During the Fish Festival weekend of November 13, 2021, the Health Ministry revealed that two positive COVID-19 cases were recorded across two social events.
One of the cases were recorded to have been at the Fish Fete and the second was recorded at the Theta Kappa Honour Society Induction Ceremony held on November 15, 2021, at the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College.
However, Premier Fahie said that while the virus is real and continues to be fluid, the Government’s local health teams continue to do a great job at controlling the virus and bringing the territory to a place where the situation is under control.
He indicated that while the government has spent a lot of money to get to the stage, vaccinations must continue, and priorities had to be shifted given the pandemic cannot hold the VI’s economy back.
'Mask up & man up' Pemier Fahie
“We have no intentions of shutting down again, so you have to mask up and man up, woman up and do what you have to do,” he said while encouraging persons to wear their masks and follow the local health protocols.
Hon Wheatley adding his voice to the conversation appealed to tourism operators such as boat and plane operators, to follow the local health protocols.
To the People of the territory he said, “Anegada is a very large island, avoid large gatherings spread out all over the island and just circulate… please observe all the Heath protocols,” he said.

IMHO, the festival is madness as much as we might all want to go unless everyone is verifiably vaxxed.
Just curious
