All schools to close for 14 days effective Thurs, March 19, 2020
"Cabinet agreed that all private and public schools, preschools, daycare centres and extra-curricular activities are mandated to close with effect from Thursday, 19th March 2020, for 14 days, in the first instance," Hon Fahie said at a press conference tonight, March 17, 2020, at the Office of the House of Assembly (HoA).
Restrictions @ Elderly & Children's homes
These measures come just one day after the Virgin Islands Opposition led by Hon Marlon A. Penn (R8), had made recommendations to the Fahie administration, to go further with its restrictions and protect the most vulnerable in the Territory from COVID-19.
According to the Premier, Cabinet also approved measures to restrict movement into residential establishments like children's homes and homes for the elderly.
"Cabinet endorsed that all facilities that serves as residential establishments, namely, the Adina Donovan Home for the Elderly, Virgin Gorda Elderly Home, Rainbow Children's Home, Safe Haven Transitional Centre and other private residential facilities, and as may be amended by the Cabinet, are advised to prohibit visits in and visits out, with the exception of emergency situations determined by the facility to necessitate a visit," he said.
Hon Penn had suggested that the Territory follow the best practices of nations who are managing the spread of the virus, more specifically, as it relates to the issues of 'containment and social distancing' in addition to other measures to protect the Territory.
Visits to HM Prison also restricted
Additionally, visits to Her Majesty's Prison are restricted for 30 days, with the exception of emergency situations, which must be determined by the facility, subject to advise from the Attorney General, Premier Fahie said.

What about those with the 6 year olds?
taken to keep the transmission rate low. The Carpa Lab in Trinidad and Tobago,is the only COVID19 lab for testing all member countries.. They announced they are only doing 20 tests per week per country. Trinidad and Tobago now have 7 cases in their country with 1.5 million population. I am wondering how many lab techs they have processing all the tests and do they have enough necessary supplies in order to do so??
