‘All Out’ wants more than crumbs for the 9th District
On the grounds that the sister islands have been treated with scant regards by the National Democratic Party (NDP), Mr Sprauve declared that the people he seeks to represent are not satisfied to gather the crumbs that fall from the table.
“Ladies and gentlemen we have to have a seat at that table, we must,” he declared during his launching at the area adjacent to the Catholic Community Centre in the Valley.
Genuine development, people empowerment
“Don’t bother with the naysayers, the naysayers may say we are anti-government, that we are anti-development but you know what we are for the true and genuine development that empowers our people not marginalise them,” stressed Mr Sprauve.
In his address to the people of Virgin Gorda and others who travelled from various parts of the territory to lend their support, Mr Sprauve said he was humbled to have been endorsed by a stalwart in the political life of the territory, Honourable Ralph T. O’Neal OBE, who took the time to be at Mr Sprauve’s campaign launch.
In alluding to the significance of being the one to succeed the man of valour who sat as an elected official for some 40 years, Sprauve alluded to the ‘big shoe’ he now has to fit his feet in and throughout his presentation in detail, in his usual style of speaking slowly, enunciating his word clearly for all to understand, he touched on a number of areas he would aggressively represent if he is given the opportunity to sit as the Ninth District Representative in the House of Assembly.
Extra year for primary schooling
Among the things Mr Sprauve highlighted as concerns to the people of Virgin Gorda is that of Education. The businessman said he would fight to have the primary and the secondary schools separated as they are currently in one fold.
Above that, Mr Sprauve said he would seek to have an additional year added to the primary school as opposed to it being added to the secondary as extensively represented by current Minister for Education and Culture Honourable Myron V. Walwyn.
Striking a balance
Mr Sprauve blasted the current NDP campaigners for accusing the VIP of being anti-development as, according to him, “Yes we encourage foreign direct investment, being fully aware that our limited resources and our inability to develop by ourselves, so we are not anti-development.”
He further stated, “However, and let me say this emphatically, however, it is quite simple that there must be a balance, a balance between what we give-away and what we receive. And let me say this, we cannot, we absolutely cannot give away our beaches, we absolutely cannot give up our waterbed rights, we absolutely cannot give up our seabed rights, we absolutely cannot close down our fishermen grounds.
“I will fight to protect your interest ladies and gentlemen, the longest journey begins with the first step, I am taking that step, boldly I am taking that step and we cannot ladies and gentlemen grant free entitlements without the investors and developers contributing something back to our community,” said Sprauve.
A vote for an Independent is a vote for NDP
Mr Sprauve’s address went close to one hour and touched on topical issues affecting the Ninth District as a whole. This included the sore issues of land, land titles, opportunities to develop the sport fishing industry among others, which he appealed to the voting population to give him the opportunity to represent by not throwing away their votes to independent candidates.
According to him, a vote for an Independent candidate is a vote for the NDP. “Don’t throw your votes away with Independents because in the House you need a team, they have no team but here in the Ninth District your choice is clear: Sprauve, Sprauve, Sprauve, Sprauve…”
The Independent candidates vying for the Ninth District seat are Dr Rawle R. Hannibal, Mr Albert O. Wheatley and Mrs Stephanie I. Faulkner-Williams.
Dr Hubert O’Neal is contesting on the NDP ticket and Faye J. Reese-Charles with the People’s Empowerment Party.

Teacher: why you said that?
Student: The amount of people that I hear saying the NDP going kill the VIP so I tell my mom and dad don't go with vip.
Teacher: laughs, it's not like that.
student: so teach u think vip stand a chance?
Teacher: I hope so because I resign from teaching and going run for the VIP
student: laughs, I want the NDP so u don't get back your job an I get a new teacher....
and was quite embarassing to know the same VIP he is campaiging with is the
culprit. It must have been some what unconfortable for RT Oneal.
All Out stayed above the fray and made some salient points. I particularly like how he shook off the NDP noise making about the VIP being against Developers and Investors. He made it clear, that being aware that the BVI is limited resources, it was imperative that we seek and attract foreign direct investments; adding that we must approach it in a balanced way; that the country must obtain significant benefits.
It was important that he stress that water rights, seabed rights, beach ownership etc. will not be open to investors; that they must make significant investments to benefit the community.
Empowerment through Land ownership would be a burning and ongoing project of his. It has become customary
for the parties to award lands only at election time. However, All Out clearly stated that he will be engaged with
the land issue on a year round basis. The price of crown lands under the NDP is way to much, and that he will seek
to get prices back to the affordable levels initiated by Hon R T O'Neal at around $700-$1,000 p/lot. That is significant; as it will encourage timely construction which will hlp both the economy and th home owners.
All in all. The NDP getting spats of the Jitters by now. What I can't understand is why the NDP is so overly concerned, when they have so many advantages. Impressive millions of government moneys to spend, and mega contributions from Branson, Jarecki. They closed down the government on us, not affording us enough
time to register, hundreds of Belonger statuses they awarded. Need I say more?
I like his points about education;
1. Mark or Myron as premier
2. Four more years of corruption
3. The UK will take over the BVI...
No way I want any of the three
the last 40 years.
Very embarassing if you ask me.
