Akeem Durrant charged for murder of Corey Butler

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Police have charged one male for murder in the shooting death of Corey Butler last Tuesday evening, June 21, 2022.

Charged is Akeem Durrant, 35, of Bellevue.

In addition to murder, Durrant was also charged with robbery and possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply. He will appear before the Magistrate’s Court at the next available sitting, the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) stated in a press release on June 24, 2022.

Corey Butler was wounded in the Scatliffe Alley area around 6:30pm Tuesday evening.

He was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at the Dr. D. Orlando Smith Hospital.

    I’m so glad a alleged robber & murder was caught. Let them get away with robbing the dudes in the ghetto and eventually we all in this 2x2 would be in trouble.

    Sad situation I didn’t know him except for recognizing a familiar face through town. Anyone can see he was just doing a little hustle religiously. He was providing an essential service yet no one is getting rich off weed & dime bags that is survival living.

    Some of you should count yourself lucky the idiot robbers go for the poorest targets. Robbers usually don’t have work experience so they don’t know which business is making money. Count your blessings.

    Instead some ridiculed the guy as if he deserved to be killed for where he chose to hang or selling what should already be legal.

      yes when he was handcuffed and being searched by the residence he was begging a night rest she did indeed stated that yelling at the officer saying her son aint do nothing them want to set up my son..i had to beg her get off the premises and allow the officers to do them job. so yes indeed she already pleading the blood and claiming his innocence.

      Both of them. She and her police sister and Detective cousin has been covering for this heartless criminal for years now. Akeem has robbed his own family members, people who helped him, his employees, his uncle, shoot Jeremy Williams in his eye, robbed countless businesses and banks on Tola and VG, shot Thomas, Jerry and many others, been pushing dope for years, but was never caught, because of his family ties within the force. I hope they have solid evidence on him and lost his ass in peison for years. If they do let him out on bail he will flee to Cooper Island by his father or to St Thomas, because he is a US Citizen. Please separate him from his brother, because they will plan a prison escape.
