PARAQUITA BAY, Tortola, VI- Agriculture and Fisheries Month officially started today, Saturday, March 8, 2025, with the Agriculture and Fisheries Exhibition at Paraquita Bay.

Junior Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, Hon Dr Karl Dawson (R1), congratulated the team at the Department of Agriculture and the farmers who worked to make the event possible.

The month will be celebrated under the theme ‘Limited Land, Vast Ocean, Reimagining Food Production through Ingenuity’

The theme will be explored throughout the year

Dr Dawson informed that the theme for this year’s Agriculture Month will be part of the ministry’s work throughout the year as the government seeks to increase the Territory’s food production alongside other measures which will be taken in respect of food security.

“Today and during this month, we will celebrate our farmers and fishers from Anegada to Jost van Dyke…Today I recognise the collaboration among farmers wherever it takes place. I consider this sharing among colleagues to be the most powerful stimulant in the development of the sector,” the Junior Minister said.

The exhibition at Paraquita Bay will continue tomorrow, Sunday, March 9, 2025.

Exhibitions will also be held on Anegada, Jost van Dyke and Virgin Gorda, allowing local farmers, fishers, and other stakeholders to showcase their work, connect with consumers, and demonstrate how ingenuity and resourcefulness are shaping the future of food production in the Virgin Islands.

It was one big disappointment, was not and did not have the true Agricultural vibe or feel. Who disagree, can come for me I don’t care. I don’t see the need for an Agricultural fair if it is going to be hall baked.

Eat this, not that! Pork, fried foods, cheese, eggs, cakes, pies, and cookies are #1 in VG and BVI. Not fish.
PS. U can wash it all down with some overproof Cruzan 151 proof rum. IRIE MON!!!

The person that went on the farmer's land in paraquita bay and worked for agriculture and steal should be jailed., because they should be helping the farmers not stealing from them. If I ever caught them on my farm they would be roasted. When it all boils down agriculture dead in paraquita the day all the animals had sell off, just of the low mentality they have.
