ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The Attorney General, Hon Dawn J. Smith, and her staff are featured as they observed ‘Culture Day’ as part of activities to celebrate Culture and Tourism Month.

The staff were entertained by guests Elmore Stoutt and Romeo Cameron who performed cultural renditions including music and storytelling today, Friday, November 17, 2023, according to a post from the Government Information Service (GIS).

The event, which is the first to be organized by the Attorney General’s Chambers Social Team, also included a luncheon.

Culture and Tourism Month 2023 in the Virgin Islands will start on November 1, 2023, to be observed under the theme, 'Our Virgin Islands, Our Story: Tell Your Story'.

Activities planned for the month will also highlight the historical significance of key heritage sites in the Virgin Islands, and the value in their preservation and promotion according to Director of Culture Dr. Katherine Smith.

“This year’s Culture and Tourism Month will see the return of staples such as the BVI Lit Fest, Cultural Food Fair Extravaganza, Fungi Festival, and the Anegada Lobster Festival. Emphasis will also be placed on cultural education which is a topic that is always relevant,” Dr Smith added.
