Admin Complex AC malfunctions again! Treasury Dept closed
According to reports reaching Virgin Islands News Online, however, some workers are not keen to continue working until the AC system is fixed.
Director of Communications Arliene T. Penn confirmed an AC unit problem at Central Administration Complex but said a scheduled press conference with Dr The Hon D. Orlando Smith on the Panama Papers leak will go ahead. A press release from the Department of Information has since stated that the press conference will be held at 4pm instead of 2pm at the Premier's Office Conference Room.
Virgin Islands News Online received reliable information that the Treasury Department was closed for the remainder of the day, however, this was challenged by Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Communications and Works, Mr Anthony S. McMaster who told Virgin Islands News Online that while no AC in the building is working, fans were brought in and the Complex "opened up" to keep the place cool so that the work of the Government would continue.
"To my knowledge no department has been closed off...and we have technicians on the roof working on the problem as we speak...to my knowledge all offices are open."
However, according to a senior source in the Treasury Department, service to the public has stopped due to the department being without AC.
Mr McMaster further said technicians from Puerto Rico are also scheduled to arrive in the territory tomorrow to address the problem so workers can return to work on Monday to a working AC system.
It was on February 26, 2016 that workers in the Complex were sent home due to the Air Conditioning (AC) system malfunctioning.
Operations at the Complex had resumed on Monday February 29, 2016.

Given the levels of corruption in the BVI that took place in the complex late at nights
over the last 5 years along with the high perception of corruption by the public eve the AC had enough!
