Adaejah T. Hodge to compete @ World Athletics U20 C/ships in Lima

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Teenage Olympian Adaejah T. Hodge, fresh off her inspiring performances in Paris, will represent the Virgin Islands (VI) at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Lima, Peru later this month.

The Championships are scheduled for August 27 to 31, 2024, and Hodge will contest the 100m and 200m on Tuesday, August 27 at 10:10 a.m. and Thursday, August 29 at 11:15 a.m.

Hodge, at 18 years old, reached the semi-finals of the Women’s 200m at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

According to the BVI Athletics Association (BVIAA) athletics certified Coach Ms Ericca Frederick, who also fostered Adaejah’s youth development, will provide the required coaching duties.

Recent history of VI @ World U20 C/ships

The VI last contested World U20 Championships in 2022 fielding athletes Wanyae Belle and Akrisa Eristee in the sprints.

In 2016 Kyron A. McMaster, OBE secured a bronze medal in the 400m hurdles in Bydgoszcz, Poland. Before this, in 2013, athletes Nelda Huggins, Taylor Hill, Tarika Moses, Lakeisha Warner and Jonel Lacey secured a silver medal in the Sprint Medley 1000m in Donetsk Ukraine.

The World Athletics U20 Championships is a biennial world championship for athletics that is organized by World Athletics, the governing body for athletics.  Participants must be under 20 years of age by December 31 of the competition year.

    For money. Adaejah will be the 1st BVI olympic medalist..I will like to see her do both 100 & 200. ..100 helper with her 200 finishing speed..
