MONTVERDE, Florida, USA– On Saturday, June 10, 2023, teenage sprint sensation Adaejah T. Hodge won the 200m dash at the Star Athletics Sprint Series in Montverde, Florida.

Her time of 22.60 seconds constitutes a national outdoor record, overtaking the 22.98 seconds held by Tahesia G. Harrigan-Scott since July 15, 2007.

It also consolidates her 22.33 seconds indoor mark as a qualifier for the World Championships, which take place in Budapest, Hungary this summer.

2nd on OECS all-time list

On the OECS all-time list, Hodge trails only St Lucia’s Julien Alfred, who was a triple sprint gold medalist this past week at the NCAA Division 1 Championships and a Commonwealth Games 100m silver medalist last year. It vaults her above Sherry Fletcher of Grenada and Virgil Hoge of St Kitts and Nevis, both former Pan American Games medalists.

Hodge also ran a wind-aided 11.08 seconds in the 100m in a high-powered race won by world leader in the event, USA’s Sha’Carri Richardson (10.73).

I would like to remind people that she’s only 17 years old so don’t put too much pressure on her; nor should we be disappointed if she does not beat grown women.

Well done Adaejah. We are proud of you. I hope that you will continue to excel. I go hope that the government will assist her to prepare for future championships. Remember to use lots of vitamin B12 if it is not banned by international sports federation.
