Acting CoP commits to prosecuting officers who break the law

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Acting Commissioner of Police (CoP) Jacqueline E. Vanterpool has committed to prosecuting all officers caught breaking the law.

A press release from the RVIPF on Friday, January 17, 2025, said Commissioner Vanterpool made this statement this during the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) first Force Meeting of the year. 

"Undermyleadership,anyofficercaughtbreakingthelawwillbeprosecutedto the fullestextent,”  she said, emphasizing a zero-tolerance stance on illegal practices at the meeting committing the RVIPF toincreasedvisibilityatalllevels,from seniormanagementdown,aspartofarenewedfocusoncommunityengagementand public trust.

The meeting was used to set the tone for 2025 under Commissioner Vanterpool’s leadership and was attended by Governor Daniel Pruce and representatives of the Police Service Commission. 

RVIPF officers commended

Commissioner Vanterpool also took the opportunity to commend the dedicated and hardworking officers in 2024. She also noted significant improvements in technology, infrastructure, and overall operational efficiency during the past year which was noted to have set a strong foundation for further enhancements in 2025. 

She also announced the confirmation of officers to the Permanent and Pensionable establishment, marking a significant milestone in their careers. 

The release added that Commissioner Vanterpool shared the long-awaited news of promotions from Sergeants to Chief Inspectors “acknowledging their patience and commitment”. 

Future of continued partnerships

The meeting also underscored the RVIPF’s dedication to building a “culture of professionalism, transparency, and accountability”, the press release stated. 

The force will also address both internal and external challenges. 

The RVIPF looks forward to continued partnerships with local, regional and international stakeholders as it works diligently to uphold its mandate to serve and protect the Virgin Islands, the release concluded.

    First put a policy in place to make it a disciplinary crime for any officer to wilfully with bad and divisive intent to back talk and bad talk their fellow officer with any other person.....That is the root of the force problem. Kill that root....Your desire to prosecute can be driven by your ambition to excel,, Police are not fools, Yiu need good evidence..They are definitely bad bad Bananas in the bunch, slow down, take time and pick them out

    Cops who break the law should get a stiffer sentence because they know the rules and choose to do wrong while arresting the average Joe for doing the same things. How can the public feel safe confiding information with bad cops around? That could get them killed.

      Police that have violated the police oath many years ago still walking free and man gone jail for a joint while those who pocketed evidence especially money free on the road
