WEST END, Tortola, VI- Nine firms have once again submitted bids to participate in the pre-qualification process for the construction of the new West End Ferry Terminal, this time, by the August 31 deadline.

According to the Virgin Islands Recovery and Development Agency (RDA), although similar in number, a different composition of firms participated in this pre-qualification business opportunity.

“These submissions will now be evaluated by a panel of evaluators to arrive at a short list of firms to be invited to bid on the construction works. The RDA will provide an update soon after,” the RDA stated in a press release today, September 1, 2023.

Previously, the RDA received nine submissions on June 9, 2023, for the prequalification of contractors for the construction phase of the terminal. However, none of the contractors met the requirements for prequalification.

The prequalification process was since re-tendered, with the deadline set for August 31, 2023. It is expected that invitations for bid will be issued in September 2023.

Government has secured funding for the construction of the ferry terminal via a loan from Caribbean Development Bank (CDB).

What a foolish statement. Why you don't say the British trying to teer from the back to make sure no one local contractor gets it like they tried in the past so that they and their Chineese friends can get it and go with the money the BVI taxpayers have to pay back. Tired of some you crab in the barrel mentality.

The Chinese and the British share projects? Wow…That’s news to me. I thought they were rivals. And you’re calling people’s comments foolish?

A few of you will not like what I am posting but the truth hurts & we from the east can take heat. I was diffinitely not a fahie fan but thanks must be given to him for pushing this project as well as many others through the RDA for the people like the new buildings at ESHS to take our children & teachers out of moldy buildings and tents at Pasea. The JVD school that is being completed and many other projects all during the hardship times of covid. Many repairs to damages experienced during Irma to roads, side ways, government buildings on all islands. Also, for fighting for the rights & future of the people of the BVI against what most on the street now realize is the highnadedness of the Governor & UK. Most also realize he did more good than bad for the people. This is probably why the plot was organized.

@ East End woman, I agree with you too. Fahie did and started a lot of good things, but now the newcomers will take all of the credit for something they never would have started themselves. Either way, I am glad it is in the making.

All West End needs is a small ferry dock with kiosks to service the JVD ferries and the private yachts. NO international ferries or commercial charter yachts with paying guests.

Now you talking piddle. 40% of all incoming tourist and activities entering the BVI comes through West End Ferry terminal so it is more than financially sound to make this investment as the returns will pay for the investment by leaps and bounds. So speak from facts and not hatred and badmindedness.

Times hard. Now it's going to be who offers the highest or most lucrative cut back..Then they will be advice to put in a very low bid and promised to increased it in the middle of the contract...That's the game of corruption

Best they give it to JAMES TODMAN CONSTRUCTION JTC so he can go ahead and start with his funds because we know how Government operates.

Sorry but that size ferry terminal is unnecessary especially if government is working on increasing air traffic. All we need is Something more functional than we have.
