8-year-old running successful lemonade business
Lemonade stand to storefronts
Currently a student of Ivan Dawson Primary School, Liliana proudly told Virgin Islands News Online (VINO), “I am the owner of LilyLuv’s Lemonade Stand of which I sell lemonade of different flavours.”
Those flavours include strawberry, blueberry, passionfruit, mango, pineapple and ginger lemonade, she said.
“What I enjoy the most about my business is my customers and being able to give them the same great tasting lemonade every time they purchase it,” she said.
The daughter of Kevin S. Fahie and Christina H. Cheraymond, Liliana said the inspiration to get into business came after she made lemonade for a school project earlier in the year.
Business started as school project
“My lemonade stand was actually a school project that I did this year. While recording the video with my mom, the idea popped into my head and I told her that I will want to actually have customers coming and buying my juice.”
“What put the icing on the cake is when my dad posted it on his Facebook page and persons were actually asking where they can purchase is what made me realise that I should go ahead with it,” she said.
So far, Liliana says the biggest challenge with running her business is balancing life, business and school, “I have to balance school and helping my mom and grandmother to make juice for our sales,” she said.
When asked about her plans going forward, Lily said entrepreneurship remains on the books.
“At this time, I am focused on continuing my entrepreneurship and building my business of where I’d like to see my juices in supermarkets, hotels, restaurants and even globally,” she said.
Good corporate citizens
While Liliana said the majority of business revenues go back towards repurchasing raw materials for her product, she said the business remains a good corporate citizen.
In October 2020, the business made a special pink strawberry lemonade flavour for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, with all proceeds going towards the BVI Cancer Society. They have also made donations towards Spina Bifida Awareness.
Leaving advice to other aspiring young entrepreneurs, Liliana said, “I would advise them to follow their dreams. If it’s that you want to start any business do what I did and harass your parents until they see that you have potential in actually running a business.”
Catering available
Liliana shared that the business can also cater to birthday parties, restaurants or even in-home consumption, via gallon bottles, in addition to the 16.9 fl oz bottles of juice.
“We would love to thank everyone who has been supporting us thus far and we look forward to receiving business from our new customers,” Liliana said.
