ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The popular 8 Tuff Miles held annually in St John, US Virgin Islands (USVI), usually attracts a number of road runners worldwide, including from the Virgin Islands (VI).

This year the race has been cancelled due to the devastation of hurricanes Irma and Maria in September 2017.

There will be an unofficial 8.38 mile run, however, on St John on February 24, 2018, organised by 8 Tuff Miles Director, Peter Alter.

And BVI Runners has decided to host an 8 Tuff Miles solidarity run for those not able to join persons on St John for the unofficial 2018 Tuff run.

The run on Tortola will begin in front of Sebastian's Car Park in Capoon’s Bay at 7:30 A.M.

The course is along the North Shore, though Apple and Carrot Bay and up Windy Hill, and return.

According to race organisor Kay Reddy, “As it’s a loop you can run, walk or chat any distance you would like.”

Ms Reddy added: “It’s a great training run, good for those considering Tortola Torture to get on the course and for those that wish to get some running in the legs for the start of the 5k series on March 10, 2018.”

Meanwhile, any optional donations will be sent to the 8 Tuff Miles race organiser for the event’s scholarship fund.
