ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – A magnitude 7.0 earthquake was recorded on August 21, 2018, at 5:37 PM, by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre.

The quake’s epicenter was located at latitude 10.4 North, longitude 62.7 West, or just off the coast of Venezuela with a depth of 54 miles.

Information from the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre has indicated no Tsunami Advisories, Watches or Warnings were issued for the Virgin Islands.

Tremors were felt in neighbouring Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago, in addition to reports coming out of Grenada and other Windward Islands.

A subsequent statement by the VI's Department of Disaster Management (DDM), again reminded the VI community, “…we live in a seismically active zone, which makes the Territory vulnerable to earthquakes.”

    What more will God have to do to get our attention? What more has to happen before we wake up and take the warnings of God seriously??? People we all need to wake up and see what’s really going on all around the world. God has had ENOUGH!!!!! He’s been warning and warning and warning us time and time again over and over. When are we going to take heed and listen??? Time is at hand and the lord is at hand and he’s tired now. God is tired and he’s now doing his will. Let us all get right with God while we still have life. Tomorrow isn’t promised. My heart hurts. God please please please please Lord I beg of you to please please have mercy Lord. HAVE MERCY ON US Lord!!!!!!!

    The geology of plate tectonics is an interesting subject. Maybe it's time for the DDM to explain to the public the reason for Caribbean earthquakes/terramotos along with their standard warnings.
