ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) is appealing to the public for information following a series of robberies reported across the Territory in recent weeks.

In a press release on Friday, November 6, 2026, the RVIPF disclosed that seven robberies were reported in the VI recently.

Police did not disclose the names of the establishments or persons robbed. No dates of the robberies were also released; however, our News Centre had reported on several armed robberies recently.

The RVIPF, which is being accused by the media of seemingly protecting criminals, said detectives remain actively engaged in several investigations and are pursuing all available leads to identify and apprehend those responsible.

'Significant concern' to RVIPF

"These incidents, which have targeted businesses, are of significant concern to the RVIPF. The Force wishes to reassure the community that investigative resources have been intensified, patrols have been increased in key areas, and officers are working diligently to bring offenders before the courts," Police said.

The Acting Commissioner of Police Richard Ullger stated, “Robbery is a serious offence that threatens public safety and undermines the sense of security within our communities. We are asking anyone who may have seen suspicious activity, possesses video footage, or has information relating to any of these incidents to come forward. Even the smallest piece of information may prove critical to our investigations.”

How does this work? No dates of robberies, no names or locations of businesses released, but the public is asked to assist. True, many of us in the community have heard of at least some of the incidents, but shouldn't the information be released by the police if only to alert us to be on our guard? Am I the only one perplexed by this?

I think the Overseas territories need to get a detective or undercover agent agreement with legal footings, So detective can go from Islands to islands doing under cover detective work.. this will solve lots of cases, stop lots of potential crimes,, Imagine a female detective from Cayman shows up here under cover, mingling, imagine the amt of information she will pick up...2 months she leave another one comes...We did something like that back then burst big drug and Gun cases, the Turks detective undercover never had to go to court get the information pass it on then leaves the island, local cops / detectives follow up on it arrest happened.
