‘5th District Breakfast Club’ to provide meals for students
A release on the initiative detailed that the project will start November 1, 2023, and that the team will provide free breakfast to students in the 5th District from 6:30 AM.
Students would need reusable flasks
“Students are asked to walk with their reusable flask for their tea. But we need your support to keep this initiative going. Join us in nourishing young minds and fueling their potential.”
Hon Rymer speaking to Virgin Islands News Online (VINO) said as a committee, they have witnessed the daily challenges faced by families in the D5 community, particularly in providing meals for their loved ones.
"In an effort to alleviate this burden, we have partnered with Under De Tent @ Toddy's to provide a free meal for students in our district. I want to express my gratitude to the proprietors at Under De Tent @ Toddy's for immediately coming on board and supporting this initiative. I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all those who have already donated and sponsored meals for our students. Your generosity is greatly appreciated."
The Minister said that they recognize that many students in the district attend school on an empty stomach due to financial constraints and the District Breakfast Club initiative aims to address this issue by providing a nutritious breakfast to students who may not have access to such a meal before school.
Program a long-term initiative - Hon Rymer
Hon Rymer further said he views the student breakfast club initiative as a valuable program that not only supports the students' well-being, but also enhances their academic journey by providing a nutritious meal, fostering a sense of community, and creating a more positive and fulfilling learning experience for all students.
"We understand the hardships faced by households in our district, and it is our sincere hope that this initiative will help alleviate some of their burdens. The 5th District Breakfast Club is a long-term program, and we encourage individuals to contribute monetarily or sponsor students," he said.
The committee called on members of the community to offer support, “Let's ensure no child starts their day hungry. For more information, call 284-499-5565,” it added.

Nothing like training up a child in the way he should go.
A pleasing sight reinforcing the world's view of a people.
.... e
Example, they voted for Romney over Ileen, Delores over Gordy, Juggy over Wade and Kye over MB
Many politicians do these things for votes when the ministry should be taking the lead. Someone needs to ask the minister what exactly are her plans for our children.
